ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Beautiful new standards recording by Connecticut-based singer Ellynne Rey. Rey is accompanied by some of New York's finest musicians. This collection of 15 songs is intimate, romantic, playful, and a bit off the well-trodden path. Comprehensive liner notes by respected jazz author Will Friedwald briefly summarize each track. This is a record that will make your heart sing.

What critics say about Ellynne:

"Not only does Ellynne make it work [singing with just guitar and bass], she makes it magical. It just goes to show, if you have the voice and if you have the material, you don't need all that lavish production. To coin a cliche, less is more…"
Jack Goodstein/Seattle PI

"…This combination is both deliberate and precise. This combination leaves no place to hide unveiling true tonal character from start to finish… Enjoyable session! 4/4"
D. Oscar Groomes/O's Place Magazine

"…A fine new singer with both talent and taste."
Phillip McNally/Cadence Magazine

Great Voice/Unexpectedly Sexy
Ellynne has a sharp and crisp vibrato so many singers would do anything to possess. Her voice has a particular intriguing impression when used softly , lightly, or sweetly, in certain moments to emphasize a feeling, a tenderness, to whispering effect. So Many Stars reminds me of one of my favorite singers, Cleo Laine, who also used a sense of humor and soft lyrical reserve interspersed with an unexpected sexiness on certain tracks.
