Album Notes
The composer, Emerson Adrian Gale, has been deeply influenced by his time spent quietly in the great outdoors. These solo piano pieces consciously evoke the nourishing power of nature. They were written and performed to create calm and inspiration. Imbued with the organic harmony of rural landscapes, the songs have an intentional spaciousness which is rarely found in instrumental piano music. Like the sounds of the wilderness, they do not have a singular linear rhythm or melody, but rather an ebbing and flowing of emphasis. In restful reflection, human consciousness derives great benefit from breathing with the slow pace of the countryside. Intimate feelings of self-realization are awakened by these natural musical landscapes of peacefulness and softened resonance. For continuity of feeling, these tracks were recorded live in one session on an older grand piano with a ringing bass section and bell-like high notes.
