Album Notes
Born on a small farm south of Boston to a musical instrument-collecting father and accordion-playing mother, Emilia was destined for a life of music. She started piano, formally, at the age of five and trained
classically for the next thirteen years. It was Christmas day, 1996, when Emilia decided she wanted to play the guitar. She went up to the attic,
pulled out a warped and worn guitar, that once belonged to her great grandfather, and started to play. She never stopped.
After a brief, post-graduate stint in San Francisco, she moved to Portland, Maine to attend a grad program in documentary photography and supported herself by singing in the streets of the Old Port. Here, she fostered her love of storytelling both visually and audibly. Upon graduation, in the midst of a full fledged love affair with Maine, Emilia settled into the Portland community and started building a career as a full-time singer/songwriter.
Now, wielding a voice that defies the size of her body and strong storytelling sensibilities, Emilia Dahlin has carved out her name as a unique songstress. She weaves mesmerizing tales (complete with Greek myths, robotic messiahs, epic floods, and tax evaders) with raw, rootsy folk and dynamic jazz vocals. Her well-crafted songs sound as if they've been left outside where time and weather have worn cracks for the wind to whip through. Her sky-rocketing energy is delivered with honesty.
She's a “self-made original” and the quintessential indie musician, wearing the hat of artist, manager, booking agent, and publicist at once. She resides in Portland, Maine where she was voted "Best Female Vocalist of 2005", nominated for "Best Singer/Songwriter" and was a finalist in the 2005 NEMO Songwriting competition.

gorgeous voice and beautiful lyrics!
This CD is a fabulous collection of acoustic music. Emilia has a beautiful voice and catchy lyrics. Six Acre Lot is amazing, as is Song Given Back (well all the songs are very very good). I highly recommend this CD.

Great CD
The only reason that this CD didn't get a 5 star rating was because its only 10 songs long, even though i have no problem listening to the CD over and over, one of the best CD's that i own and probably one of the most artistic.

Haunting! Like a Banshee Emilia steals your soul.
I first saw and heard Emilia on local broadcast T.V. I had to hear more, so I ran out to buy her CD "EMILIA DAHLIN" and I've been hooked ever since. Each song on this CD is a look deep inside Americanna. She a wonderful mix of Hank Williams/Patsy Cline/Jim Morrison/Muddy Waters/Brian Adams. I listen to this CD in my truck, on my boat, and in my home! Everyone who hears it is awe struck and loves it!!!

You just want to know all the words and sing along.
As each track begins I find myself thinking "oh I love this one". A great blend of compelling sound and lyrics. Like nothing I've ever listened to. A favorite in my collection. Highly recommend.

Very good album accentuate live performance.
I am part of an organization that had emilia for a live performantion. Not only is she a great folk singer but very nice in person we hope to have her again next year. Her songs are very powerfl with lyrics to move the soul.

Really, really, really good
All the songs are very good and some are exceptional. I listen to the whole thing everytime. The writing is great, the expression of the composition is great, the playing is great and her singing is great. Enough said.

This album succeeds in being both complex and simple at the same time: It is thoughtful yet accessible, disciplined yet passionate, intellectual yet creative. The brilliant work by a mature artist.

Refreshing :)
It is true, an old dog can learn new tricks..this CD with the dynamic voice of the artist has given me a refreshing new music to listen to other than being stuck in the 50's and '60's:)
