Dark Matter

by Emily Davis

This sophomore album, crafted with upbeat rhythms and haunting melodies, blends folk punk and acoustic rock with unexpected elements of less orthodox styles. Optimistically dark lyrics are driven by soaring harmonies and passionately untamed lead vocals.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Dark Matter" (2011) is at once both haunting and upbeat -- dark and optimistic. In it Emily strives to leave behind her dark past (Empty City, Brand New Habit) and find a real destination. The album is her sophomoric followup to her debut "No Real Destination" (2010).

This dynamic album, which takes a musical departure from her previous work, can be explosive at times (Blood Red Sea) or slow and ambient (Sagan's Song) and sometimes both (This Scene I'm Seeing Nightly).

The album showcases a diversity in songwriting styles - from storytelling (Diablo) to the humanist hymn (Chords Of Your Chorus).
