Album Notes
"The sonorities of Englander's voice are as soothing as the gentle roil of running water or the easy breathing of your lover sleeping next to you. His sense of melody speaks directly to soul -- soft, skittering drumming, plaintive keyboards and healing acoustic guitar. His 'River Song' deserves comparison to Neil Young's 'Sugar Mountain.'

River Song is a collection of ten original songs showcasing John's thoughtful, intelligent lyrics and soulful melodies. Unifying it all is his voice which rings with depth and passion. Produced by Mark Prentice, River Song features an incredible collection of musicians, including George Marinelli, Jr., Darrell Scott, Catherine Styron and John Gardner.

John's style is a few parts soul and a few parts folk-rock, with dashes of gospel, jazz and blues thrown in to create a unique and powerful sound. When you hear his voice, you'll know why so many list his CD, River Song, as one of their favorites. Like James Taylor, John has the kind of voice you could listen to all day.

Best Blizzard Ever...
We're snowed in & listening to "River Song"...the fire is going, the wind is howling - blowing snow with zero visibility outside...and three of us are sitting around inside whistling & singing with John about the wonders in our world. It couldn't be a better snowstorm. We LOVE this album.

I have given this CD to all my friends...
After the first listening of River Song, I was singing the tunes to myself...each time I listen to it I hear something new that makes me reflect on my life and love and my friends. I just can't say enough wonderful things about the lyrics and the music...it's eclectic...if you like blues, jazz, folk, soft rock...you'll find something you love. This CD is amazing. I wish I knew the musician and could thank him personally for the joy his music has brought me and my friends.
