Album Notes
Time for Sleep is a full length album that includes some traditional lullabies, some completely original songs, and some original tunes set to familiar poems or nursery rhymes.

This project has grown out of my desire to record some of the songs that I sing for my own children at bed time, purely for fun and for our own sentimental purposes. Time is flying, and I'm sad to admit that in a few short years they won't want me to sing them to sleep anymore. At some point, I began to consider that perhaps some of our friends and family would enjoy it as well, so maybe I would have several copies made.

So, I set out to arrange accompaniments for some of the music I planned to sing. As I worked, I came up with ideas for new songs, as well as new melodies for familiar poems and nursery rhymes.

Let me interrupt myself to give you a little background. I have been singing all my life and playing the piano almost as long. I have been a piano teacher for about eight years, which I really enjoy. I've picked up other instruments along the way as well. But the one thing I have never done is compose. I tried once or twice in my early teenage years, but I wasn't happy with what I came up with, so I quit trying. I thought, "Well, I'm just not good at this," and so even though I always wanted to do more with my talents, my apparent inability to write my own music held me back. I was afraid of embarrassing myself, so I just kept believing I was not meant to write music.

Fast forward -- you can imagine my complete surprise when I wrote and arranged my first ever original song for this collection (thinking, "Well, it's just for kids. Surely I can at least write a children's song.") -- and really liked it. I had written something that I genuinely enjoyed listening to. I couldn't believe this music had come from my head. I was elated! So I wrote more and more and more...six songs in one week (a few for this album, a few for future use). This project has given me the confidence to pursue a dream I never thought was possible for me.

I have put my all into making a recording that I am proud of. It is my hope that it will be enjoyed by parents and children alike, and that you will want to give it as a gift for a new baby or recommend it to your friends for their children.

If you do enjoy my music, please check out my Facebook page for updates on new songs I'm working on. I've written several songs that are not on this album and that are geared more toward adult audiences (though not inappropriate for children to hear), and I'm planning another album for the near future.
