Erin and Her Cello

by Erin and Her Cello

The "hilarious chic" dynamic ‘duo’ of Erin and Her Cello pluck their way through jazz, French pop, comedy and blues, singing a series of laugh-out-loud woes about absurdist New York; city observations so astute it would send even Carrie Bradshaw reeling.

Album Notes
Four short years ago, downtown darling Erin and Her Cello began charming audiences with her “quirky, vivacious, and undeniably unique” oeuvre (Strings Magazine) of hilarious and heartbreaking original material. Now this dynamic ‘duo’ takes center stage to share studio versions of their hits. From a three-minute love connection on the MTA in 'Subway Crush', to childhood tragedy ‘At the Zoo’', or observations about scary checkout girls at Duane Reade – the situations and music of Erin and Her Cello explores with friendly understanding the joys and pitfalls of life in absurdist New York City.

Plucking her way through jazz, French pop, comedy and the blues, Erin and Her Cello sings of the intimate world of urban relationships so accurately, it would send even Carrie Bradshaw reeling. But not to worry: through these laugh-out-loud tunes of disastrous woe, Erin and Her Cello reminds us not only of humor in the heart of everything, but also the poignancy of city life. Through stories of break-dancers, sobriety, baby-sitting and even the allure of fresh clean towels, Erin and Her Cello reminds us what it means to be a New Yorker. And proves that even if New York is dubbed ‘the loneliest city in the world’, we’re not alone. We have a glorious pair of musical friends to sing along with on the journey.

Really pleasing to listen to. An insight into the life of Erin in New York which I have only touched upon here in sunny manchester. Humourous moments with some really catchy melodies. Not bad at all!!

The CD is great - but just a picture. LIVE is where you want to be. So if you have to move to NYC to hear Erin live on a regular basis - go for it!
