Album Notes
Elaine Romanelli's songwriting melds intimate storytelling, catchy choruses, and a hint of Celtic lilt. On stage she charms with sass, sincerity and sensuality. Her clear, flexible voice is emotional and direct.

Music blog Lucid Culture hails her as a ’tremendous singer’, and raves about her new album Real Deal, calling it “vivid, aphoristic, often metaphorically charged”.

Last November Elaine was one of a handful of artists selected to play the Focus picks showcase during the 2009 Northeast Regional Folk Alliance conference. She was also a top 25 finalist in the Australian Songwriters Awards 2009 competition (International category).

Her March 2009 show at the Tin Angel in Philadelphia was featured by several Philadelphia area papers, including the Philadelphia Daily News.

Bloggers are also fans, including Asphalt Eden; Freedom Love-Fest, which named her Artist of the Month; and the aforementioned Lucid Culture, which regularly features her as a top pick.

Elaine’s debut EP Better By Far sold out twice on CD Baby. Her popular track ‘FLY’ was included on the Top Sellers sampler sent to 5,000 CD Baby customers, and was also selected for the fundraising CD The Open Mike Cafe Compilation.

Her music has been played on the radio and by podcasters in Atlanta, Michigan, Texas, New York, and Los Angeles.

Elaine has also appeared on national TV as a fan favorite on the TLC hit 'What Not to Wear', and was part of the critically acclaimed off-Broadway stage production of Brundibar (Tony Kushner, Maurice Sendak).

Elaine was raised in suburban Philadelphia, PA, and Manhattan, KS.

Real Deal Really is
Listening to this album is like a road trip with your older, cooler, non-judgmental sister; sharing secrets that burst into lively, lovely bubbles! Intimate, yet universal.

If you're a fan of good lyrics and of Celtic-inspired music, "Real Deal" more than fills the bill. Elaine Romanelli uniquely combines observations on contemporary life with haunting melodies that sound as if they have existed for eons in the hills of Ireland. Singing in a voice reminiscent of Loreena McKennitt, Romanelli's performance encompasses the darker and lighter sides of universal experiences, from heartbreak and introspection to defiance and optimism. This album is definitely worth multiple listens!
