Album Notes
Escher's Enigma presents six interpretations of songs that served as an influence to the band. This CD covers a variety of genres and styles and serves to provide insight into the background of these veteran musicians.

Escher’s Enigma consists of Brian Miller and Russ Miller, who have a combined 40+ years of performing and recording rock and pop music in a wide variety of settings. Russ has been playing the bass and recording professionally since the 1970s, while his son Brian has been playing guitar and piano, as well as singing, professionally since 2005.

Their previous release was a full-length CD, entitled "For a Moment." This CD consisted of 8 original songs and 2 interpretations. The material covers genres from alternative rock to singer-songwriter. Critics of independent artists were blown away by this offering, earning three 10/10 reviews. Vents Magazine says "It’s refreshing to hear music that is willing to engage, entertain, and provoke listeners. There is a tremendous amount of reflection on this album, introspective lyrical content and pensive arrangements, but the Millers are equally eager for their listeners to relate these songs to their own experiences. The music and presentation is intimate, but never insular."

Escher’s Enigma first foray into the music scene was their critically acclaimed debut EP entitled “From Me To There,” which received unanimous praise from music critics, including 2013's highest 5-star rating from Vents Magazine: “With a sound ranging from Modern Rock, Indie, Pop/Rock, to Britpop, Escher’s Enigma has a uniquely creative sound that translates through every song and beat. Their songs are passionate, real, fun, alluring, and consistently well delivered. Escher’s Enigma offers a distinct family synchronicity and musicality that can be found with no other band of this day and age. ‘From Me To There’ includes 5 tracks that will make you dance, pull out a lighter and sway, or dedicate to someone or some event that may have wronged you…”

Their follow up hard rock EP, entitled “Piece of Mind,” continued to garner critical praise. Gig Band Music says, “Piece of Mind delivers an uncharacteristic fusion of hard, melodic guitars and unique songwriting techniques, with a limber rhythm section that keeps the music loose and powerful.” Music Emissions states, “This is one of the most original sounding bands I've heard in quite some time...It's a ripe musical invitation into the world of a red hot band from the East coast...This outlier style of music is not only mastered by the Miller father/son dream team, it also deserves a much wider and attentive audience, to say the least.” Indie Music Digest perhaps summed it up the best, “These two are musical masterminds with more than enough zaniness, creativity and eccentricity to go around. The songs are extremely melodic, grooving, and somewhat eccentric – but above all infectious.”

Music Biographies:

Brian Miller has been writing, recording, and performing since the age of 13. In high school, Brian was the lead guitarist and songwriter for Semi Crazi, an arena rock originals band. From 2006-2009, he played guitar in the Buffalo-based Toy Box Heroes in many of Buffalo's most popular rock venues. From 2006-2008, Brian was also the lead guitarist and songwriter for the Oneonta, NY original rock band Moosen. Since 2008, Brian has been gigging solo as an acoustic-pop artist.

Russ Miller has been playing the bass professionally since the late 1970s. He has played in numerous bands headquartered in several locations. When playing in bands out of Long Island, Miller focused on original and cover songs in the classic rock genre. In the mid-1980s, Miller continued his work with bands playing original rock and hard rock songs on Long Island, as well as playing guitar, bass, keyboard, and singing in the leading top-40 band in New York's Southern Tier. Miller has also played in pop and rock bands in San Diego and Buffalo. Russ Miller has written, played, engineered, and produced numerous songs for a wide variety of artists. On the technology side, his work has involved recording and producing songs on equipment ranging from 4-track reel-to-reels to modern Digital Audio Workstations.
