ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Have you ever had the experience of forgetting nearly everything you learned in a foreign language except for the few songs you were taught? That is so normal!

Music and song are highly memorable and motivating. Music makes learning fun. Songs take advantage of the rhythmic nature of language and employ repetition to reinforce speech patterns. Song singing requires that a language learner reproduce the language, so it increases one's fluency.

Each song included here each has its own grammatical or functional learning objective (indicated in parentheses next to the title) and is geared toward students at a particular proficiency level.

The songs are designed to supplement teachers' Spanish curricula, in the spirit of Schoolhouse Rock. They make learning Spanish fun.

All songs and music written by Ethan Rogol with the exception of Una boca; first verse, traditional, second verse, Ethan Rogol.

Ethan Rogol teaches Spanish at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA and co-owns and operates Lengua Rica: Certified Spanish Language Instruction, Interpretation, and Translation Services, which he founded with his wife in Olympia, WA in 1997.

In his classes, Ethan performs these songs live. They form an integral part of the curriculum Ethan uses, which he created. He encourages students to practice the songs at home, but also encourages them to write their own songs, which he sometimes has them perform in class!
