Eric Turner/Guitar & Vocals:

Eric's interest in music started at age 14. After 2 years of classical music lessons on the piano, he switched to guitar, and joined his first rock band: The Tropics. They soon became a hit in and around the South-East portion of the United States close to his native Florida. Winning an International Battle of the Bands they secured a recording contract with Columbia Records.

With several single releases it enabled the group to open up for such acts as The Who, Dave Clark 5, Young Rascals, Neil Diamond, The McCoys, Yardbirds and Vanilla Fudge, just to name a few. (Note: The Tropics have done a few reunion engagements).

Eric's next group, Bacchus, also had several single releases allowing them to opening spots for Grand Funk Railroad, Lynard Skynyrd, BB King, Cactus, Outlaws, Redbone, Edgar Winter, Ted Nugent and a unpublicized guest appearance at the Atlanta Pop Festival, which is known to be much larger than Woodstock, population wise.

Upon arrival in California, Eric joined a group called Fortress and signed with Atlantic Records. They toured with Ambrosia and Santana.

Then Eric went into Christian music. Fourteen albums later, with Darrell Mansfield and Denny Correll, has produced a World Wide Ministry and continues till this day by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. During this time, other various Christian artists have been recorded using Eric's signature guitar sound and style.

Eric has recently opened at the Coach House with Bill Lordan Experiment(BLX) for Robin Trower.Their cd Here Comes the Storm has been nominated for best rock album of the year by LA Music awards.See Billlordan.com for more cool info.

Eric also performed at the Galaxy Theatre opening for George Lynch ,Leon Russell, and Molly Hatchett with Phoenix. As well as Dwight Yoakam,Dianne Schur,Dennis Quaid, and Foreigner with Connie Rae.

Good classic rock!!!
In a day and age where bands have forgotten how to play lead guitar, here is a surprise gem that I stumbled across. Combining the hard rock sounds of the 70's and some blues, Eastgate has created some great tunes that remind me of a mixture of classic Ted Nugent and Darrell Mansfield. If you are missing that classic hard rock sound, then you need to check out Eastgate!
