ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In celebration of his birthday (September 9), Eugene Marlow is today releasing his 14th full-length album entitled “Gene Marlow & Friends @ Rombex, New York City.” This album of nine original jazz pieces composed by Marlow was recorded on May 14, 1978 at Rombex Studios* in New York City.

The recording session was performed before a live audience. The ensemble consisted of Eugene Marlow (piano/composer), Paul Cabri (guitar), Nancy Pollock (drums), and Steve Powers (percussion).

Having re-discovered this never-released recording from early in his career Marlow wanted to share it. This album is guaranteed to delight anyone who is familiar with and has enjoyed Marlow’s music.

"Gene Marlow & Friends Live at Rombex" showcases Marlow’s eclectic musical pallet — rooted in classical music, and influenced by the blues, straight-ahead jazz, Latin-jazz, and the bossa-nova — resulting in original melodies full of romanticism and rhythmic drive.

Marlow is also the founder/leader of The Heritage Ensemble, which will celebrate 10 years of live-performance and recording in December.

*Rombex was the video arm of DuArt—a leading film processing company in New York City.
