Album Notes
'Twas in the Moon of Wintertime is Steve Eulberg's 2nd all-instrumental release on the Owl Mountain Music label. This collection of minor mode tunes originates from multicultural Christmas traditions, but is fitting for all phases of the winter moon.

Featuring mountain and hammered dulcimer ensembles (all played by Eulberg) this recording spans genres from jazz waltz, shape-note tunes, English, French and German dances, to African-American spirituals and blues.

"I have always loved these minor mode tunes and they are especially suited to dulcimers. May they breathe peace and hope into your soul," Eulberg comments. "I have dreamed of this project for years and have even grown weary of it as I labored over its details. But then I popped it into my portable CD player and listened while I took a midnight stroll under a bright winter moon-and fell in love with it again!"

Eulberg is a championship caliber instrumentalist (he has won 2nd and 3rd place in the National Mountain Dulcimer Contest (1998 & 2001, 2002) and was a finalist in the National Hammered Dulcimer Contest (1999) in Winfield, Kansas.

His dulcimer-playing has been featuring on two national compilations "Masters of the Mountain Dulcimer, Vol 2" (compiled by Susan Trump) and "Great Players of the Mountain Dulcimer" (compiled by Michael Shull).

Enthusiastic listeners are saying, "Excellent!", "Your best recording ever!" "I love it--and listen to it while I study."

"'Twas in the Moon" is the 3rd in Eulberg's "Dulcimer-Friendly Worship" series for which an accompanying book is available from Owl Mountain Music.

NEWS: The track, A La Nanita Nana, was played on United Airlines' Inflight Audio in November-December fo 2003.

bought six, kept one for myself (good thinking!); everyone loves it!
This is a wonderfully inspiring collection. Good combination of lively and calming; listening to it would lift one's spirits in any season.

New approach to old Christmas favorites plus some new songs or seldom heard old songs. Love these instrumentals!

Every year I need to find a great collection of Christmas music....
Every year I need to find a great collection of Christmas music. In now 21 years of marriage, each Christmas, I have bought my wife a Christmas music album. I was thrilled with this one. These are not the old and tired selections that I have long since stopped even considered buying. Eulberg gives us fresh instrumental presentations of yuletide tunes, old, very old, and not so old, played on hammered and mountain dulcimers, guitar, and other instruments. Beautiful arrangements, recorded in superior quality. I almost did not give my wife her present this year, I liked the album so much, I wanted it for myself!

The cream of the crop ... this one is a jewel!
Steve Eulberg has put together an awesome, fresh collection with expert musicianship and craftsmanship. Don't just save it for Christmas; it's excellent listening any time of the year. Compare this with any commercial release, even those by performers with much more name recognition, and it will hold its own or, more likely, come out on top. I am mesmorized by this recording. It's a must-have for your collection.
