Album Notes
“Music is a Universal Bridge from the Heart to the Soul... “

I walked into Sunburst Recording studios in Culver City, California with Grammy nominated engineer Peter Granet to do a sound recording of my music.

The pieces were performed live in the studio and recorded in "Audiophile" recording format. This means no compression, equalization, reverb and other recording techniques used to enhance the original sound. In the time span of 8 hours I recorded this release.

I hired a team of professionals to get the word out and much to my surprise and awe its Debut on the global New Age charts was a #3. It retained the Top 10 for 3 months, Top 100 for 5 months at Zone Music Reporter and with airplay worldwide.

The studio owner, Bob Wayne submitted it to the Grammy awards for me and again I was taken aback because * NARAS - listed it with a Consideration to be nominated in the 48th Grammy Awards for Best New Age Album of 2005.

That is my story and what I accomplished by taking a leap of faith... I also dedicated my first release in memory of my father with hope, love and prayer.

** Reviews:
“Mr. Wish has crafted a style bridging New Age and serious Classical music. Bravo to Evan Wish and his Lullaby of Love.”

** Press: The Morning Call in Allentown. PA. New Age: David L. Gaskill
“The strength of New Age music today lies not in its ethereal amiability but in its hard-nosed compositions. Pianist Evan Wish’s debut disc certainly measures up to this newer manifestation of the genre. His sound is more layered than Jim Brickman’s, less fiery but more quietly intense than Szakcsi, less derivative than Ken Pedersen’s. His music is like the flickers of sky experienced as you drive through pale green, birch-filled glades – it shimmers and surprises at almost every turn in the road. There’s an emotional maturity, too, that glows from behind his notes, a confidence that infuses the listener with the surety that, on the spiritual plane, at least, all is well. If it’s hard to single out any one tune for praise, it’s because Wish seems preoccupied with exploring and sharing the multifarious harmonics of his soul. That’s no flaw, certainly - for those who are capable of embracing such gladness-inspired emanations. Besides, one could do worse than be a dappler of birches.”

Zone Music Reporter - RJ. Lannan
"Wish has converted his feelings into music so well that it affects the listener without warning“ and “Wish’s music is an amalgam of romantic songs without words and contemporary instrumentals with feather - light classical influences."

Mainly Piano - Kathy Parsons
“Is an Audiophile recording, a live performance. The result is a pure, clean, piano sound without reverb or equalization. He brings a wealth of experience to his original music. A most impressive début."

Mark Strictland - Hot/Modern/AC Editor & Dept. Manager - All Access Music Group.
"Of the many Indy records I receive, Evan Wish's record is one of the few that will go into my personal collection."

Global Chrysalis Music Publishing, Germany. Mr. Alexander K. - CEO Global Musikverlag.
“It was certainly a pleasure and a very interesting experience having met you at the MIDEM 2006 Music fair in Cannes. Very rarely I have the chance to personally talk to such talented and musically dedicated professionals like you. Thank you for leaving the LULLABY OF LOVE album with me for evaluation. Most people at our company, whom I introduced your CD to, seem very impressed about the artistic expression and the beautiful arrangements embodied.”

Producer/Engineer: Peter Granet
The album, "Lullaby of Love" is the culmination of years of work by Evan and me. Our collaboration began in 1997 when we met at a dinner party. As the party was winding down, our host put on a cassette of solo piano music that blew me away. I asked (Ellen) whose music that was and she introduced me to Evan. We immediately hit it off. I suggested that we get together so I could hear all his works. What I heard was beautiful and very different from the derivative "New Age" background music I had expected. I could hear the classical influences in his work as well as the melodic hooks that define his work. He is a master of melodic composition.

We began our voyage with a one-day demo, recording thirteen compositions I chose from his vast collection of material that would six years later realize itself as "Lullaby of Love".

During the years that followed our initial recordings and our lives took different paths, but we always knew we had a mission to finish what we had started. In the spring of 2004 we found ourselves talking about "The" recordings we had made and decided the time was right to bring our work full circle.

I was astounded by Evans improvement as a pianist and I suggested that we should not make just another solo piano record, but make the best most expressive recording we were capable of. I worked with Evan to add even more power and dynamics to his performance at the piano and suggested that we record "Lullaby of Love" as a pure "Audiophile" recording.

"Audiophile" recording process:
Using a matched pair of AKG 3000E condenser microphones, fed through an Avalon AD2022 microphone preamp and straight to a digital recorder. Mastered using Sonic Solutions 5.2.1 and a T.C. Electronics (M5000)

The finished product is more than I expected. Evan's playing is powerful and expressive, the recording, so pristine and unforgiving, it has not failed to stir everyone that has heard it.

I hope you will enjoy our labor of love when you hear it.

I was on a long drive and a local PBS radio station played this CD...
I went on a 12 hour round trip to pick up a squad car for my police department. On the way back I turned on the local PBS radio station and the next sound was music from a CD titled "Lullaby of Love" by Evan Wish. And from the first sounds I became captivated by the passion that was coming from those piano keys. My hypnotic trance lasted for the entire time the music was playing and then came the news. I had a small panic attack because I did not remember the musicians name at first and I thought that I might not hear the name again. I wanted so much to order the CD. But as fate would have it the station again announced the CD it had been playing. I got the particulars written down to order this CD. Since the CD has arrived I have played it every night when I turn in for bed. What a great sound!!! Thanks Evan for you God given talents and passion.

An Impressive Debut
Composer/pianist Evan Wish has had a long and varied career in the music industry, which includes extensive concert performances and composing assignments in Canada, the US, and Europe. He spent quite a bit of time in France in the mid-90’s, and a French influence can be heard in some of his compositions. Co-produced and engineered by Peter Granet, “Lullaby of Love,” is an audiophile recording, a live performance that went straight to the digital recorder, bypassing the recording console. The result is a pure, clean piano sound without reverb or equalization. Classically-trained as a young person, Wish has been required to compose in virtually every style of music in the course of his later training and professional work, so he brings a wealth of experience to his original music. Wish writes, “I believe that feelings put into every note when performing are magical when consistently done. This is what I strive for; to take that into my performance every time I play, then you as the listener can hear the magic and I too will feel it all over again.”

The title track is one of my favorites on this album. Lyrical and flowing with a waltz tempo and a slightly bittersweet mood, this is a beautiful, passionate piece. “Lovers Dream” is also exceptional, and is one of the pieces with a strong French feeling. Full of emotion and a sense of tragedy, it is impossible to not be drawn into this piece. “See a Shooting Star” is a bit more upbeat, although it has an air of mystery. “Out of Love Came Love” is a nine-minute piece that has a warm, leisurely flow the exudes contentment and peace. “I Feel a Change” is on the dark side, and seems to be asking questions, searching for answers. “The Man I Am” has a somewhat Russian feeling that is darkly passionate and quite elegant. I laughed when I saw the title for “Melodramatic in Fmi,” as it’s a bit over the top in “melodrama.” Again quite dark and French, it really pushes hard on the ol’ heartstrings. “Hush” is much softer and more intimate, gently soothing. “I Know There Are Rainbows” is light and almost wistful - dreamy and optimistic.

As you can see, there is a variety of styles and moods in the music of “Lullaby of Love.” A most-impressive debut from Evan Wish, I look forward to watching his career grow and reach a new audience. Good stuff!

I dont think I could put into words exactly how good the cd is really is
I never believed that a song was capable of mustering up such emotions in myself as all the songs on this CD did. I find myself listening to it at every given opportunity. The music holds something that I haven’t heard from any other musician. I do not know what particularly it is, but there is a passion which can be heard behind each note. The music is beautiful, simply beautiful.

This one is a winner !!! I felt like he came right out of my computer and into my hardwood floor living room. Sounds remarkable but i can't get him to leave.

worth listening to, and feeling through, time and time again
I did not think piano solos would move me so deeply...once I started listening, I had to listen all the way through the entire album. The artist's emotional highs and lows come through at different times in different songs, open for all to see. I listen at home, in my car, and at the office. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This is a passionate, great album!
This album is beautiful! While listening to Evan's music I hardly even notice the traffic in downtown L.A. Evan's music is filled with passion and love. I hope one day I have the opportunity to see Evan play in person. My 10-year old daughter, Tristin, loved this album as well and says "It was so beautiful. So relaxing. I can't wait for Evan's next album. I really hope one day I see Evan's performance in person, thanx!"

Hi, I just wanted to say how helpful this CD has been to me. I've used it in school for presentations, movement pieces and transition music for monologues and one act plays. My friends ask me all the time if they can borrow it or burn a copy of their own. Last month was very stressful and so everyday after school I'd come home and just listen to his music. It helps me when i want to relax or when i want to stay focused. I usually have to stay up late to study or to finish major assignments so most of the time I'm the last one awake. So to break the eerie silence I play this CD and it keeps me going, keeps me awake and keeps me happy. Thank you for this CD.

I loved this recording. It is passionate and melodically rich. Influences of Faure and Chopin can be heard surfacing through the modern, song-styled pieces. Mr. Wish has crafted a style bridging New Age and serious Classical music. Bravo to Evan Wish and his Lullaby of Love.

I love it.
I really enjoy this CD. The emotions of the songs are so potant and alive.

Totally astonished by the creativity and style!
I had the pleasure to meet Mr. Evan Wish in person. A very humble and kind person in person. He was talking about the steps he had been taking in getting a CD released and I ventured off to listen to the CD. I was totally astonished by the creativity and style on his CD. As the manager of a small internet shopping mall I was interested in how I might be able to help him move his CD into having a life of it's own (if possible) and after listening to the CD I directed the webmaster to create a page that could help him get people to listen and purchase his CD. You can now find his picture with connectivity to his CD on the front page of HOTMALL1.com as well as by clicking on the link above. I'm really happy to help Mr. Evan Wish with his endeavor and wish him success.
