Smooth, tender vocals with jazz legends backing her up........
Jazz lovers, Connie treats us to another offering of her smooth, classy jazz. Creating beautiful music with some of jazz’s greats, this is a perfect CD to relax to. Starting off with the title track, Some Cats Know, her soft seductive voice (along with great bass playing by Ray Brown) lures you in. Then, she picks up the tempo with I love Paris. Wonderful sax playing by Von Freeman and Dave Kerr, this track left me feeling great and as upbeat as the song itself! Toots Thielemans injects the harmonica so beautifully on Bluesette. I Wanna Be Loved is becoming my favorite off this CD as Connie’s tender voice turns this into a great track to cuddle up with that special someone. I’ve got the World on a String is awesome with Doc Severinsen on trumpet, blowing his magic and giving this tune that extra special feeling. The entire CD carries on with balanced arranging and musicians who compliment Connie so very well. Jack McDuff and Jimmy Hamilton, I’m Gonna Wash that Man Right Outa my Hair, play off each other with great lines on the Hammond and piano. And, we get a taste of Connie’s vocal bee- boppin’ with Anthropology. So wonderfully done…… I appreciate the variety of instruments used, all played in such a soft, tender way. I’m sure I will be getting some of her other CDs as well.
