Album Notes
These Things began like this. I was sitting at the piano playing the opening riff and when I sang this was the first line "Used to have a guinea pig but not she's all gone" - I actually wrote it down. A smarter songwriter would say "You can't begin a song like that". I am not that songwriter and it is what is so beautiful about what I am trying to do with Extraneous Solutions. I write my heart without reservation and release it once a month. It is as simple as that. Enjoy.

Used to have a guinea pig but now she's all gone
Used to have some chickens, they used to eat the lawn

my little red car, we could go real fast
one day the hood flew up and smashed the windshield glass
scared me half to death, I screamed just like a girl
but I made it home in one piece, now I share it with the world

And it's alright. These Things happen some times
and its alright. As long as I can be with you tonight

when I wore braces they got stuck on every thing
when I wore a retainer it was kinda hard to sing

me and my friends, we were playing in the yard
my dad comes running over, he is breathing hard
there's been a lawn mower accident, your brother's lost a toe
so happy when I found it, I love my little bro!

(repeat chorus)

took care of a guy with violent tendencies
meds in his yogurt and wrist to waist restraints
many nights would come home, bites and bruises on my arms
but that's why teaching middle school is like a walk in the park (la la la la la)

used to have a dog named B-A-N-J-O (and banjo was his name-oh)
it's kinda hard to see the cars when your bounding through the snow

all of the adventures of my childhood
the scars tell my stories some are bad some are good
not really sure how I made it to today
but I sure miss the friends I've lost along the way.

(repeat chorus)
