Album Notes
"An eclipse of love songs and heartache, Eystone puts forth a challenging, self-produced album full of subtle, sexual tension and emotionally charged anger. Rush's singing is so passionate, and mind-blowing, every hardcore emotion is felt as she sings. The directional pull in this CD is like a compass spinning without any intentions of stopping. It's a continuous flow of rock with the perfect blend of harmonic melodies sure to please any rock fan looking to discover one incredible band!" - Heather Corcoran, GoGirls Music

"The first thing that hits you about this disc is the versatility of Karen Rush's vocals. On "The One"(Angels), she is soft and demure, yet still possesses a strength that rises above so many pop princesses...on "Up for Air" she shows a brashness and toughness that would cut through any roadhouse and snap heads to attention. Another aspect worth of mention is the smoking guitar work of Victor Munoz, who weaves in blues licks, Allman-like slides...The end result is a well-balanced disc from a promising band." - Bill Ribas, NY ROCK

"The songs are engaging and interesting in a melodic moody Dawson's Creek way, and in fact would be a great bet for many of the WB shows that tend to find 'unsung' indie music right now..." - Stacey Baord, The Muse's Muse

"Fans from artists as diverse as Jewel, Tori Amos, the Pretenders and Concrete Blonde will love this band!" - Upstage Magazine, Asbury Park

Eystone, formerly known as the Karen Rush Band, has been playing their own distinctive blend of acoustic rock since forming in New York City back in 2001. The band has performed before enthusiastic crowds at noted venues such as The Hardrock Cafe, Arlene's Grocery, The Acoustic Cafe in Bridgeport, CT as well as The Saint and Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. Eystone's CD release for "Up for Air" has also been featured on national television in a spotlight segment on Fox Magazine about the evolving indie music scene.

Kevin Byrne (fmr writer, SMUG magazine)

Eystone captures that hard-to-hold, lightning-in-a-bottle sound that merges both soulful longing with the lyrically lush and sultry. Their latest release, 'Up For Air', further proves how tight the band has evolved musically, and the aural results are touching. Karen Rush's warm, wide-reaching voice continues to display a dynamic range that keeps her in the company of such great poet-priestesses of modern music as Sinead Lohan, Shawn Colvin and Ani DiFranco...and when you hear the overall album, it will make you wonder why more musicians don't dare feel their way out of the dark and enjoy the uplift of life for a change. 'Up For Air' is a heartfelt, human, pared-down, percussive bit of acoustic beauty, and Eystone is its optimistic oxygen supply.

kick butt rock n roll with a haunting texas style twist
Impressive!!!! This is how a rock n roll cd should sound.
Beautiful and deeply haunting lyrics mingle with a high octane generating band. Mix that with supercharged vocals and you have Up For Air .

I just love this cd
My husband and I just love listening to Eyestone: Up for air. The music makes you think, be happay and realize things that you have never thought about in a certain way.
We also play it when we have company, and it is a hit.
A saw Eyestone playing at Arelne's Grocery, and as soon as I heard it, I knew I had to have this cd. The music is great, and it just makes you want to dance and smile.
I love it!
