Our Path To This Moment features the dramatic big band compositions of Ezra Weiss. The 17 musicians here are led by saxophonist Rob Scheps, who once worked with big band titans Buddy Rich, Mel Lewis, and Gil Evans. World-class trumpeter Greg Gisbert (Maria Schneider, Mingus Big Band, Jazz at Lincoln Center, etc.) is featured as a special guest, appearing on three of the seven tracks.

Recently listed in the 2012 DownBeat Critics Poll, composer/pianist Ezra Weiss has led bands in many of the country’s greatest clubs including Dizzy’s in NYC, the Triple Door in Seattle, and Catalina’s in Los Angeles. His recordings include The Five A.M. Strut, Persephone, Get Happy, and The Shirley Horn Suite, all of which have garnered significant praise from press and radio. He has won the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award three times, and currently teaches at Portland State University.
