ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Fake Brain has released their second full-length CD, "Department of Our Ways" on their own imprint, WABNARC (We're A Band, Not A Record Company).

Since their first album, Fake Brain has added a new bass player and a variety of experimental sounds to their arsenal.

The special blend of indie-pop and art-noise-punk has gelled into what the band likes to call "Psychadelic New Wave".

The band consists of Gideon on vocals, Andrew on Guitar and Keyboards, Marc on drums and vocals, and James on bass.

All members contributed synthesizer blasts and other sonic protrusions.

The record was recorded and in Fake Brain's tiny Brooklyn studio in the summer and fall of '99.

Parallel to the release of "Department of Our Ways", Fake Brain is introducing it's own comic book. Episode one is being distributed for free at live shows, and is available for download on their website.

Now the band is gigging in and around NYC to promote the new record. The band hopes to tour and release an EP in the coming year.

Brimming with punk rock guitars and just the right amount of hooks swirled into the mix. The songs are the key here, however - they are well written, tight and succinct.

9 Muses

music that lies between weirdo pop and geek rock.
Fake Brain play a style of music that lies between weirdo pop and geek rock. Disturbed noise would be a good description. Only it is much more than noise: it's punk, it's psychedelic psychobilly, it's art grunge. The lyrics are pretty strange too.

Underground Lemon

a happy, pink, fluffy- feeling slap in the face.
Fake Brain have a brilliant noisy pop sound that is so fucking catchy. The funny and blunt lyrics just force you to listen to the whole CD just to see what they'll say next. It's a happy, pink, fluffy- feeling slap in the face. This has got the goods.
