Album Notes
Eclectic artists, Fats Kaplin and Kristi Rose, delve deep into the meaning of Christmas, with this thought provoking album, reminding us of the season’s beauty, mystery, joy and pathos. From the opening strains of the ancient oud in the improvisational piece, “The Magi’s Dream” the listener is taken on a reflective journey in which a miracle occurs, a child is born and the wonders of the season unfold. The album is filled with Old Carols, traditional instrumentals and original songs that feature Fats on violin, viola, mandolin, guitars and many other instruments from around the world, as well as Kristi Rose’s beautiful vocals. Before it ends with the rollicking fiddle tune “Breaking Up Christmas” this album leads us thru the darkness of the winter season to the hope and joyful promise that is found beneath the star that shines upon a humble stable.
