ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Boston, 2011, Back Bay neighborhood: Sitting in the basement of Felix’s brownstone, discussing music theory until the early morning hours, our rum running low and our friends taking their drinks outside into the narrow alleyway. Joe was the ambitious vibraphonist from Oklahoma City, Felix the Norwegian clarinet sensation sporting a suave blazer. We were two transplants brought together by our unusual instruments, and through playing together we uncovered the playful conversation pioneered by Benny Goodman and Lionel Hampton, and later championed by successive duos of the twentieth century. Scullers, Dizzy’s, Smalls – our friendship brought us to these iconic venues, the 21st-century iteration of the clarinet and vibraphone duo. Now years after first playing together, we bring you our first record. We feature the Italian piano master Rossano Sportiello, young up and coming Russell Hall on the bass, and a mentor to us both, the great Ralph Peterson on drums.

Come with us as we share with you the music that initially inspired us to hone our craft, tunes that want you to join in our humor and fun, from a time when the show was for you, the listener. It’s Showtime!
