Fernanda Cunha features contemporary and traditional compositions that have won her fans on three continents. She began her career in 1997 and has since toured Brazil, Europe, and North America performing at prestigious international jazz festivals like Jazz a Juan (France), Wien Jazz festival(Austria), Aarhus Jazz festival (Denmark), Jazziberia-Badajoz (Spain), Vancouver Jazz festival, Edmonton Jazz festival (Canada), Borneo Jazz (Malaysia), Jazz al fin Ushuaia (Argentina), among others.
This CD celebrates the 15th year of her musical career, so she sought out the composers she most admire and with whom most identify. Fernanda loves singing outside of Brazil and being able to convey the beauty and happiness of Brazilian music to her audiences. She is proud to be a Brazilian artist. But Brazil is her home, where she finds inspiration.
This recording reflects the repertory Brazilian singer Fernanda Cunha has sung in recent years in her live performances(bossa nova and sambas), some songs that’s she has never sung before , and some songs which are little known or previously unrecorded.
The CD includes songs written by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Aloysio de Oliveira, Haroldo Barbosa/Geraldo Jacques, Noel Rosa (1910-1937), Antonio Adolfo and Nelson Wellington, The bossa nova, “Rio” written by Fernanda and Camilla Dias (featured in a Canadian short-film called “tying the not” in 2009), Daniel Gonzaga, a previously unrecorded song by Sueli Costa (Perdido de encantamento), Marcio Hallack and Ivan Lins and Vitor Martins.
The musicians playing on this CD are: Bass player Jorjão Carvalho; the guitar player Ze Carlos, pianist Cristóvão Bastos, drummer Jurim Moreira. Special guests on piano, are the composers, Camilla Dias (track 7), Marcio Hallack (track 5) and Sueli Costa (track 9).
Also on this CD is a very special guest: the composer, arranger, conductor, pianist, electric bassist and accordionist Tom Szczesniak from Toronto (on track 9).
