Album Notes
Brazilian EuFonium shows up as a first integral project of music records composed by Brazilians expressed through the euphonium sonority. Counting on the cooperation of some special guests, on this record I seek to combine the sonority of my instrument with the most varied influences of the Brazilian music, not necessarily folkloric but songs composed by Brazilians naturally influenced by our culture, be it from wherever corner of country, each one with a point of view and opened, first of all, to the sonorous result – this one being unique and ephemeral.
The work guide is called Euphonium, an instrument known for a long time in Brazilian lands but that has been shortly discovered by our composers and, from then on, widely explored. This project’s range goes from the lovely "Bombardino" (used in traditional show, military and civil bands) to the Euphonium and its contemporaneous language, technique, style and above all the euphonic sound, always running into surprises along the way.
It has been taken from 2007 to 2008 of researching time, with lots of research and dedication, looking forward to being able to present a large number of musical and cultural information. I was very glad and honored when all musicians and friends accepted my request to join the project.
Considering that this is a work with an intuitive touch among the scarce real conditions faced by Brazilian euphonium players, a situation which is changing little by little, I thank modern times, globalization, music festivals, tutors and open-hearted people, who provided us the most different references, models, inspirations and contact with the musical world.
F. Deddos (Introduction text of the work- 2009)
