ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I have begun to think of these songs as characters in a novel. You'll probably like some of them and dislike some, but my hope is you will find them interesting, engaging and somehow meaningful and moving. There's the friendly but somewhat rowdy "Alligator Stomp", who likes to have a couple beers and flirt with the girls at the local hotspot. Then there's Delores and her soon-to-be husband, the young lovers of "For You"who are happily (perhaps naively?) committed to each other. "Solstice" might be that pretty girl you know who's into auras and yoga. "Confluence" is the serious semi-intellectual - probably some kind of university professor or maybe grad student. Likes to wear turtlenecks and drives a Volvo. "Meditations" evokes the eternal presence of the Absolute as manifested in the persona of Guru Nitya Chaitanya Yati, who wrote the commentary contained therein, and who showed me enough about the true nature of life to allow me to create a good one for myself. Then there's the sincere, if overly dramatic, Latin Lover of "Una Noche" who REALLY wants to get in that girl's pants! All these characters and more await you, and invite you to create your own stories for each of them and all of them together. If you come up with some good ones, let me know and I'll put them on the website (www.fredzilla.com).
This cd is independently produced and being distributed exclusively online and at our shows. There's no corporate involvement or big advertising budget. If you like it, please share it with your friends and neighbors. Thanks for your support!

I really love this CD. Fred Cantor never ceases to amaze with his range of talent. The lovely guitar playing is especially warm and inpsired, like usual. (Check out his other stuff) Soulful, thoughtful and simply beautiful.

Wonderfully Diverse, Peaceful and Relaxing
I enjoyed this cd. Take Me Away, truly lives up to it's name. It's a warm sunny day with lemonade. Solstice is a peaceful nature walk where you can smell the sweet rain in the air. Alligator Stomp is a good time starting with your foot tapping and before you know it you are dancing in your seat. Confluence is truly poetic.

Cantor's "Solstice" crosses genres, plays well and grows on you!
Fred Cantor (http://www.fredzilla.com) is on target with this collection of songs that go from Latino to Folk. His guitar is his friend on "Solstice" and they hang out to bring us relaxing and thoughtful melodies. You can tell that Fred's been playing for a long time. It sounds best in my old car with all the windows down, breeze blowing through my hair.

Exercise your REPEAT DISC button!
Fred Gregory Cantor's SOLSTICE not only demonstrates his influences and creativity, but his continuously-escalating skill and range. It's one of those few albums from modern times in which you can exercise that dusty REPEAT DISC button on your CD player -- and with each repeat you'll discover new musical emotions. Cantor's playing has aged like fine wine and he has crafted his own genres out of his world music influences, but technical skills mean nothing unless the SOUL comes through and paints those wonderful images, like Cantor and only a handful of other contemporary composer/players can do. The quality of production is phenomenal, with dynamics worthy of classical recordings applied to a contemporary sound. It's the kind of album you can play for three days non-stop and keep discovering new imagery.

Loved It
I really enjoyed the songs on this album. They are all very unique and I have never heard a CD quite like it. None of the songs sound alike, so there's never a dull moment. I particularly loved "Solstice" because of its great melody and beautiful guitar.
