ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Jeremy Sklar, lead singer/songwriter for Wasted Holiday is a lives in Los Angeles. He is currently finishing work on a television pilot he wrote and directed called "Hollywoodn't" in which he provided some of the music along with musician Marc Dyen and award winning composer Melissa Orquiza.

Jeremy and Melissa also worked together to create a demo-soundtrack for:

"MOBIUS: a Little Tokyo ghost story" based on an original screenplay by Jeremy Sklar.

This is what wasted holiday is...a prog-rock band in the tradition of Pink Floyd that combines their textural songs and lyrics and sonic experimentation - with a more classical, formal structure...mixing it up just enough to confuse and delight it's listeners. Wasted Holiday hopes to create soundtracks for Mr. Sklar's films that will be as wild a ride as the films themselves...stay tuned.

Now, more about this album...a film of the mind...

WASTED HOLIDAY'S finger for the moon

Tells the abstract story of a young man experiencing a nervous break down ("shaking") while sitting in the park with his mother on a lovely spring day.

He dreams of escaping by train ("locomotive") to a time where life was simpler. But stuck in his life, he writes a love letter to his far away girlfriend about his fears of the future ("bad signs").

He dreams he becomes famous ("the latest rage") yet even in his dream he self destructs under the constant scrutiny of the fickle public who long for the latest trend.

His parents take him and his girlfriend skiing to try to help him relax, but out on the slopes, he skies out of bounds.("Health-don't get lost without me").

While out in the wilderness, he can't seem to get a line from a Bruce Lee movie out of his head, until he suddenly realizes its true meaning ("finger for the moon.") He then fights his way down the mountain, if just to see his girlfriend one more time, remembering the times, good and sad, that they've had together ("wasted holiday pts I II & III").

He makes it down, yet he is no longer the same boy. He is here and not here. ("gone")

Keep your hands inside the car at all times and I hope you enjoy the ride.

PSYCHEDELIC MASTERPIECE. well-crafted songs,intelligent lyrics
From the already classic opening of the album (ice-cream
truck sequence) to the final note, this is pop-art as an
experience! Ever since "Rubber Soul", artists have been making albums that are coherent pieces of art... "Wasted Holiday" follows in that tradition. Music that has something to say. If you look on the charts, that is certainly missing! We can only hope in the independent artists of this day, the type you might picture playing
a coffeehouse gig..
Rooted in Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and
George Harrison.. Jeremy Sklar has re-created the
beauty of the psychedelic folk era. Adorned by his
bass player's sweet-tone, and the gentle ambience of
the organ, these charming songs are propelled by Jeremy's
thoughts, his acoustic guitar and those bluesy licks. Get ready.. this one's a real roller-coaster! Warning: While in this dreamlike state you may experience intense feelings! As you ride the wave of madness, open your mind and don't forget to: "let your thoughts release and open every door."

Impenetrable madness...I loved it!!
Finger for the Moon's "Wasted Holiday" is an impenetrable slice of madness, and I absolutely loved it! Singer/songwriter Jeremy Sklar casts quite a spell with intensely personal and universally spiritual lyrics. Yet it has it's sweet charm as well with wicked little ditties that just aren't made anymore...somewhere between George Harrison and early Floyd played by a band of punkish kids I imagine, making sounds for the very first time. Not everybody's bag, but if you put the headphones on, it will truly take you someplace...whether you want to go there or not is up to you, but it will take you.
