Album Notes
Dan Finnegan is a multi-faceted, self-taught writer/musician from the Pennsylvania area who has been inspired like so many other musicians of old and new by groups such as The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, Billy Joel, Sting, Tom Petty and the list goes on from there. There is really no genre of music that Dan is limited to, but anything is open because staying with any one style would be a very boring and ongoing process. This is why Dan likes to explore different venues and tries to keep a fresh perspective on what he may be attempting to create.
Mixing different styles together is also what Dan likes to do. Since all music is influenced by other styles, this has always been a way Dan likes to present a new style or viewpoint of material since we've all seen at one time or another certain styles becoming "stale" or "beat to death". Being more original than the next guy, has always been one of Dan's attempts at his craft. He currently has 2 CDs to his name.
With each CD you can see Dan's growth as a writer as well as a change and progression in style which seems to be lacking with a lot of current musicians that seem to have the "same sound, different song" formula. Dan isn't satisfied with that approach to song writing. "Keep it fresh, Keep it new!" is what he says. "Even if your style changes a bit, isn't that what growth is about? Isn't that what The Beatles, Billy Joel or any other major influential group/writer has done?"
Dan has worked with and has rubbed shoulders with quite a few well-known musicians from time to time and they have seen a lot of promise with what he has to offer. And that is a self-crafted style that is his own; and that is bound to catch the listener's ear with catchy lyrics, arrangements and hooks that are sure to get you singing along.
