In general:
Left-handed, upside-down guitarist/singer/journeyman Dennis "Fly" Amero finds his musical roots deep within the vast genres of the '60's pop revolution. Influences range from Bob Dylan to James Brown to Roy Orbison to Aretha Franklin... and just about everything in between. As a young teenager, Fly was already capturing public attention, performing on the hallowed stages of 1967's Newport Folk Festival with Buddy Guy & Jr. Wells and, from the completely opposite end of the musical spectrum, the notorious Jim Kweskin Jug Band, then featuring Maria and Geoff Mauldair.

Growing up, Amero honed his stage skills with his brother's local, hard-working '70's soul band, J.B. & Water. Later, he moved to New York City, joining in on musical projects with members of the pop/rock bands, Foreigner and Meatloaf.

In the early 1980's, Fly struck upon the start of what would become a lifelong friendship with classic pop singer, Larry Hoppen of Orleans. He joined, toured and recorded with the band for the better part of 3 years before returning home to focus on his own writing.

His remarkable versatility led to the writing and producing of Atlantic's holiday comedy album classic, "Twisted Christmas", which took but 26 weeks to become certified gold in 1995.

From the dust and depths of this long, diversified musical pilgrimage emerges now the more serious, inner-soul side of Fly Amero with his first solo effort... aptly entitled: "Fly Solo". Fourteen raw, live performances - just him and his acoustic guitar. No overdubs. "I wanted to make it as real as possible.", says Amero. That he does!

"'Fly Solo' is a solid and accurate musical document of the 'other' side - the acoustic side - of Fly Amero... clear, passionate and intense."
~ Gage Cogswell - Merrimac Valley Current

"Amero's voice is rich and bluesy with rushes of pain it it. ... his songs are straightforward and gutsy."
~ Mort Kaplan - Gloucester Daily Times

Fly has a whole new following here on the West Coast! His live performances appeal to young and old alike. His vocals adapt to a multitude of styles and he plays guitar like he has fouteen fingers.

Very Simply........Beautiful. I don't know where I end, track number 9, blew me away. Can't wait to hear more original material. Fly shows incredible writing ability, and this track is exceptional! Beautiful, seemingly effortless guitar playing throughout the whole C.D. Well Done!!!!

Fly Solo
Fly has been my dads best friend forever. We have a tape somewhere in a box that has a bunch of random scrap that Fly sent my dad but the one that I always loved from day one is Waiting for Linda. I have known that song from way before it was ever on Fly Solo. I can play that song after a horrible day and it puts a smile on my face and always makes me forget about the stupid crap and puts me back in my happy place. I'm 25 year old girl been listening to Fly since I was a baby I recommend everyone else get addicted to him too. We miss you Fly havent seen you since Dons birthday come visit youre always welcome.

Fly Solo
I have heard Fly play in person for many years, I think he has moved beyong the journeyman stage these days. He's done a great job polishing his act to the professional level.
His latest cd "Paint it Blue" is 5 star blues.

Pops Walker, Acoustic Blues Artist

One of the best acoustic CDs I've ever heard.
Absolutely great. I've played it a dozen times in the last few weeks. It gets better each time. Fly Amero is maybe the most versatile acoustic musician I've ever heard, and this CD shows it. I'm acoustic artist myself, and I know what it takes for just one man and his guitar to keep an audience's attention. Fly is one of the few that can do it. And he makes it look and sound easy.

Riveting
I first listened to "Fly Solo" on a rainy Saturday morning, thinking it might fit the mood while I made a dent in a pile of magazines at the same time. Nope! As soon as the music started, I put down the reading matter and had to listen without distractions. Fly's voice and music totally took over. His guitar playing on "Early Mornin' Rain" and "Another Fine Mess" was superb (as always); his singing on "I Don't Know Where I End," "Feels Like Rain," and "Golden Slumbers" made me cry. (When the Beatles did that song, it wasn't tear-inducing.) I enjoyed the adorable tune "Waiting for Linda' -- a very different feel from the other cuts. He totally owned "You Don't Know Me" and "It Ain't Me Babe." Also loved the mood of "Riding High," and how he played with his voice on "Candy Man." Overall, "Fly Solo" is remarkable. And his new album, "Paint it Blue," definitely continues-- and adds to--the magic. I'm a new fan, trying to make up for lost time, so I hope we won't have to wait too long for the next CD!
