Album Notes
Los Angeles based singer/songwriter, Fontaine, has, at twenty-seven, already shared a stage with Paula Cole, performed Lilith Fair, and provided back-up vocals for Rob Zombie and Josh Brown. "Long Way Home", off of her debut album "The Chemistry Between Us" is featured in the film "All In", starring Michael Madsen, Dominique Swain and Louis Gosset Jr.

The French born, South Carolina raised singer has spent years honing her sound, and has finally found her niche, with the production of Mike Datz, who also co-wrote two of the tracks on the record. Peter Adams, who has worked with Tracy Bonham, and most recently, Michael Penn and The Subways, also played a huge role in the final outcome of the record. "The Chemistry Between Us" was mixed by Mike Datz and mastered by Evan Frankfort of Would Work Sound, who has worked with The Wallflowers and Pete Yorn. Les Hall, guitar/keyboard player for Howie Day and Trey Anastasio also helped produce two of the tracks on her record.

"Catch her now and you can say you saw her when"....... is the familiar cliche, but in this case there is concrete reason to believe it. Fontaines' sultry vocals remind me of a less sedate Margot Timmins." Dan Cook

"Endowed with a dreamy voice and an ear for catchy melodies, Fontaine will likely be another Carolina cultural export if she holds steady." Alex Todorovic

"Fontaine is a visually stunning, vocally alluring singer, songwriter and guitarist. Born into a family of musicians and visual artists, her rich dusky vocals paint an aural canvas all their own." Kevin Oliver

"In a relatively short time, Fontaine has found a loyal audience that catches her concerts wherever and whenever they can. One person attending last week’s Rock for Choice benefit said he’s seen her perform more than a dozen times. The honesty and quality of her songs, he said, are what resonate." Jonathan Perry

"Are we witnessing a star on the rise? The first time I saw Fontaine play, she was hauntingly good. She had a very tight guitar style (although it was no frills) and an undeniable stage presence." Luke Robinson

One of "those" albums
I have been watching this artist for several years now after one of those serendipitous happenstances. The talent and poignancy were present then, but a little raw. This album erases that unrefined nature and presents a collection of beautifully crafted songs/tales that are joined together most remarkably. Her voice is timeless and the power of her emotions are transposed without loss of intensity upon the listener.

loved it at first listen
ive seen between 5 and 30 acts a week for the past 6 years, of every genre; rarely does a singer/songwriter nail emotion like this. who would have thought a twenty-something year old woman could put the thoughts and experience of a 35 year old man into her music? her lyrics, voice and music just hit a chord with me, dont know why--but hey, isnt that what great art is supposed to do?!?

Watching Fontaine perform is watching history in the making
Fontaine's music will grip your heart, capture your soul, and accompany you as a familiar friend through moments in your life. Watching this singer/songwriter perform is watching history in the making and will bring chills to any who listen. Never have I heard someone capture heart-break, love, and life so poignantly. A true artist in her own right.

seductive and poignant...the perfect soundtrack for heartbreak AND falling in lo
Sofia Coppola needs Fontaine to compose the soundtrack to her next film! This collection boldly displays her terse ability to put feelings into words, drape those words with her velvety voice and support it all with the appropriate sonic framework. Evoking old-school western themes of freedom, heartbreak, wide-open possibility and forlorn hope, this sequence of songs maintains a constant vibe without becoming redundant or monotonous. Actually, Sofia should make a movie about this CD!

The Chemistry Between Us is truly amazing. Not like anything I've heard in a long time. It takes you on an emotional ride of heartbreak, recovery and loving again. Fontaine's words and sultry voice remind me of a modern Pasty Cline. Her passionate vulnerablity is transparent in every song, and evokes an empathy of emotion for lost loves. Fontaine's songs will get stuck in your head for days, and that's when you know you've discovered a great cd!

Happy Listener

Captures you at first listen . . .
The Chemistry Bewtween Us is a wonderful CD which showcases Fontaine's melodic voice. The songs are catchy, yet deep and beg you to listen over and over. Can't wait to hear more from this artist. Buy this CD, and you'll be a fan.

Truly amazing, reaches you at the gut of your soul
Fontaine's collection here on her Chemistry Between Us cd is extraordinary. The depth of her lyrics and vocals sinks deeply and shares such truth in experience. Her voice is connected to a place that most of us dare not to allow ourselves. And even if we have even been there before, most of us wouldn't go again. And she delivers beautifully, without any sense of being a victim, as can be so common in love-lost music. You feel the pain, without an ounce of remorse or regret. The Chemistry Between Us is the beauty of life simply put.

from one track every other day on radioparadise to playing the album all the tim
Started hearing an occasional track from The Chemistry Between Us on radioparadise which got me hooked enough to research Fontaine's website and quickly followed the commitment of a purchase of the album from CD Baby and I just haven't stopped playin' this album in a month and ache for more, it's that good! Ms Fontaine's voice actually sends shivers up an' down my spine without respite, she's glorious!

Fontaine is a real star. We love this CD and listen to it all of the time. She is destined for big things.

I'm a tough critic so i give it four stars. Five stars are hard to come by. Four stars means it is almost perfect, in fact i would say it is my favorite album of the year. Do yourself a favor and get a copy while you can. Fontaine's voice is amazing and her lyrics really tear at the soul. Her voice makes me feel like i'm gonna melt. It is like someone took Patsy Cline and Hope Sandoval's voices and said how can we improve them. All the tracks on here are really good, it's wonderful to find a cd with no filler. Good in me is great and Beachwood has to be one of the best songs I have ever heard.
