Album Notes
Since their formation in 1983, Fragment has been playing bluegrass throughout Europe and the United States. The Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America awarded the band 1st place at the 1997 Band Championship in Vienna, Austria. As part of the prize, Fragment was offered a three week showcase at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. Later that year they would return to the US for an International Bluegrass Music Association showcase at the IBMA World of Bluegrass. In 2002 the band made its Grand Ole Opry debut and finished their tour on the Fan Fest stage for IBMA. From that point on, they returned to America every summer for performances at major festivals and events: Bean Blossom, IN; Summergrass in San Diego, CA; Winfield, KS; Thomas Point Beach, ME; The Legends of Country and Bluegrass Music in Columbia, MS; ROMP Bluegrass Festival in Owensboro, KY. In 2004, Fragment was awarded the #1 European Bluegrass Band at the European World of Bluegrass in Voorthuisen, Netherlands. Individually, members have received numerous awards from a variety of European bluegrass associations.
The band has recorded seven studio albums, featuring self-penned songs and material from Mark Simos, Becky Buller, Carl Jackson and Lisa Ashman, as well as a live recording “At The Leatherwoods” from a North Carolina concert. From contemporary bluegrass music to original songs, arrangements of western swing tunes, country, gospel music and Americana numbers, Fragment plays good, honest music.
They have toured in 11 European countries and 32 states in United States.

Bluegrass is definitely global and Fragment demonstrates that the international flavor is a plus for the music. Great lead vocalist, instrumentals rank with the best and the harmonies are first rate. Great job !
Wayne Bledsoe, Editor of Bluegrass Now Magazine

Fragment is not just one of the better "European" bands - they belong right there with modern American bluegrass groups.
