ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Brooklyn-by-way-of-Charleston songwriter Frances Cone has a soulful/ indie-pop sound with a voice that "hits somewhere between Neko Case's Americana and the breathy depth of Cat Power." Featured on Vanity Fair's Summer Playlist in August 2012 and with an album set to be released early 2013, she is quickly exploding onto the NYC scene and is certainly one to watch.

As the daughter of a Baptist preacher and classically trained pianist, Frances Cone's world was primarily infiltrated with gospel music and Mozart. She took these influences and has created a unique sound blending her deep southern roots with the most current indie pop. Her remarkable voice -- sometimes flute-y, vampy or Lucinda Williams soulful -- weaves over her piano and guitar creations effortlessly pleasing Feist and Neko Case fans alike. A southern girl with a city heart, songwriting that never appears trite, but rather resonates deep down calling you back for more. She radiates warmth both on and off stage, sings you through the ups and the downs, remarking on the heavy while lightening the load. "Come Back", the first video from her debut album was shot by Sundance award winning cinematographer Hillary Spera and released May 2012 to rave reviews garnering attention from Refinery29, Vanity Fair, Deli Mag among others. She's planning a soft release of her debut album on January 18th at Joe's Pub in NYC with the official release February 26th.
