Album Notes
Come Sit Beside Me is an album of acoustic music for children from singer, songwriter and music teacher Francine Wheeler.

Written and performed by Francine and her husband, David Cole Wheeler, Come Sit Beside Me is an intimate acoustic assembly of tuneful songs that adults will love as much as the young ones--perfect for children from infancy to six or seven.

From a bluegrass romp to the sweetest of lullabies, Come Sit Beside Me is a collection of joyful original music with a few classics and clever adaptations by the lead singer and guitarist of Swanky Hotel.

A former classical, broadway, cabaret, swing and pop vocalist and performer, Francine has worked as the music specialist at the Washington Market School in Tribeca, New York City where she led children from 18 months to five years in song, dance and vibrant expressions and explorations of their musical personalities.

Recorded in New York City with help from Colorado studio legends Deborah Schmit-Lobis and Ernie Martinez, Come Sit Beside Me will bring a smile and a wiggle to parents and children.

A wonderful edition to the world of Children's Music
All 3 of my children thoroughly enjoyed this enchanting collection of melodies. It is a refreshing change from today's more commercial music.

This is a great CD!!! You can listen to it over and over again!
This CD is great and parents can enjoy it too! I think my son and I have listened to this CD 100 times already and I look forward to listening to it 100 more times. My son (nine months) gets a huge smile on his face and starts dancing when he hears the first chord!

Not just for the kiddies...
I have always had a "problem" with the term "Children's Music". To me ALL music is trans-generational and to pidgeon-hole music into a category that so many of us will not hear (because we may or may not have kids or are just turned off by the Barney syndrome) is not a good thing.

Fran and Cole's new CD is not just a recording of songs for children it is more a vehicle for sharing melodies and lyrics with your children. The songs appeal to everyone. I was laughing and singing along while driving and my son Tain giggled when I sang to him along with Ms Francine. The performances and the orchestrations are very fun and lend themselves to movement and singing (and they are not dumbed down to what many -kids- songwriters think is the level of musical comprehension is of a child).

My favorites are Bouncey Seat and Bagel Man; very funny, very singable. I'm looking forward to Tain singing along with me in the months and years to come. Good job guys!!!

I'd say this & They Might Be Giant's "NO!" are the 2 best "children's albums"out
Fancine Wheeler is one of my favorite singers. And that's saying a lot being a fan of Nina Simone, Billy Holliday & Emmy Lou Harris. How many parents want to listen to Elmo sing for 45 minutes in the car? That's the great thing bout this album. It won't dive you crazy. Along with fun, bouncy originals like "Bagel Man" , Francine does a remarkable version of "All The Pretty Horses". I'd say this & They Might Be Giant's "NO!" are the 2 best "children's albums"out there.

It's Exile on Sesame Street!!
"Come Sit Beside Me" is the perfect title for this record -because above all - it is inviting. With a mix of wonderful vocals, top notch musicianship & catchy tunes -it is an easy invitation for the ear..It has a simple - yet soulful - message that both the child & parent can enjoy.
