ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This song came to me quickly one morning... fed up with the mean-spirited and cruel actions of the current admin I knew I had to speak out. I recorded a demo and sent it off to my writing partner, Lindsey Blount, for feedback. She was very supportive and added a harmony which brought a strong edginess to the tone. I booked my other AwakeningSoul Ensemble mates to add their parts, starting with percussionist River Guerguerian, as I've learned that without the groove laid down, adding anything will be a challenge. Chris Rosser added a strong synth pad and some percussion, Charles Milling's electric guitar parts brought a great energy, Lindsey's harmony added that soaring edge, and Isabel Castellvi's cello added drive and a lift into the choruses. My much beloved Dr. Catherine Meeks was with us at our AwakeningSoul gathering in November and had spoken so powerfully of our need to keep pressing on and our amazing engineer, Eric Murrell, had made a great recording of her that I was able to use as the intro. Greg Mulkey, who has done a video that deepens the lyrics of this one, provided the ending - Sen. Cory Booker. "We are a nation of love."
