Album Notes
Allhallowtide, for the occasion that is a time to remember the dead, our loved ones gone.
I recalled several pieces for Halloween that I produced & composed and have narrowed it down
to 15 pieces / 1 Hour, 4 minutes of original music & arrangements from my archives
dated from 2010 thru 2015 that seem to hold this theme together, to honor & commemorate
these very special days of the Saints & Souls.

Christians traditionally believed that the veil between the material world & the afterlife
thinned during this time of Allhallowtide.

It's been a tradition of mine for many years to join in & enjoy the spirit, wonder & brilliance of each season
& to reflect that in a piece of music.

The painting in the Album Cover is by Joza Uprka 1861-1940 titled All Souls Day.

I love all of the colors in it. The entire scene is so very inspiring.

This tradition is still continued in many parts of the world

when the family comes together at the cemetery

on All Souls Day.

While making the draft above, I noticed the word "allow"

staring back at me within the word Allhallowtide.

Perhaps it helps to see the word allow, to take the time,

to allow yourself to grieve, to remember.

Or to allow others to grieve and/or celebrate the deceased's life in some way,

in their unique and special ways, that are different in every culture around the world.

Hallow means "to make holy or set apart for holy use" and/or to respect greatly.

The traditional meaning of

Allhallowtide, Hallowtide, Allsaintstide, or the Hallowmas season,

is the triduum encompassing the Western Christian observances

of All Saints' Eve (Halloween),

All Saints' Day (All Hallows') and All Souls' Day,

which last from October 31 to November 2 annually.

The Artist, Joža Uprka (October, 26, 1861 * January 12, 1940)

was a Czech painter & graphic artist, whose work combines elements of

Romanticism & Art Nouveau to document the folklife of Southern Moravia.

My first question, aside from looking at some of his paintings,

was "where is Southern Moravia?" It is in the Republic of Czechoslavakia,
not far from Prague, which was frequented by some of the great composers,
such as Mozart and others. The area is rich with musical life and many gifted composers.

The triduum of All Hallows Eve (Halloween) October 31,

All Hallows (All Saints' Day) November 1,

& All Souls Day November 2
