Album Notes
The album "Harp Solo" by Franziska Huhn features a beautiful blend of harp repertoire through three music eras, making it irresistible for the curious listener and the music lover.
JS Bach of the 18th ct: Similarities in tone color of lute and harp allow this transcription of the 1st Lute Suite to sound as if it were originally written for the harp.
Tournier and Salzedo in the early 20th ct use highly virtuosic and romantic phrases to introduce the harp as a multi-faceted solo instrument, while using traditional forms such as the three movement Sonata and Theme and Variations.
In his Sequenza II, Luciano Berio, the most famous Italian contemporary composer, expands the modern tonal language of the harp with revolutionary sound effects such as pedal slides, extreme dynamics and hitting of strings.
The album showcases the instrument as well as the extraordinary artist- with technical brilliance and sublime interpretation of the different music languages this recording can reach any one's heart.
