Album Notes
An ancient music master and healer from underneath the great bridges of the molten city of Ozlop. A fearless and fuzzy doo-doo fangled warrior of light whose purpose to retrieve the souls of the Ozlopians from uncertain demonic destruction and teach well the ways of truth and kindness.

Rand has acted as Chief Songwriter of the baked and his writings reflect his spheres of influence. As the youngest of seven kids rand got all the hand-me-down jeans and records of his older brothers and sisters. From the Doors to Sonny and Cher, The Bee Gees, Earth Wind and Fire to Lynard Skynard and Peter Tosh rand learned to appreciate all ends of the spectrum. His favorites were Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Pink FLoyd and Joe Walsh.

His first instrument was the drums(it was sort of like the Bobby Brady episode) and soon his older brother broke them. Next came the player piano. Rand he was able to learn a couple show tunes from watching the keys but his older sister got good taking lessons and rand became discouraged. Finally at age 10 rand got an electric guitar. After a few lessons rand was playing "Louie Louie", "Green Onions", and "Wild Thing". Rand then got put into band class, but rand didn't like the music, the band geeks, and didn't see the guitar fitting in, and so he opted for music appreciation class. There he listened and learned the history of rock and roll and got turned onto punk rock by a friend in the class. The Sex Pistols, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, the Vapors, JFA, the Meat Puppets and the Germs became his favorite bands. It was music that he could annoy the rest of the school and his family with. At the age of 13, he bought a keyboard and began experimenting with MIDI, sequencing, synthesis, and programming. Soon he was composing weird stuff that freaked out his parents. Next he was playing with a reggae/speed-metal band. When he saw his first Grateful Dead show in 1986, he was fascinated by the Drums/Space segment. He felt that the intertwining of traditional, roots music with experimental musical excursions and segues was where it was at.

John (ShaggyP, JP, JDP, JDPTP) is an extremely versatile and well versed keyboardist with a virtual wellspring of atmospheres and styles. Through his extensive knowledge of sampling, synthesis and chordal voicings, he is able to produce any or every sound at any time. Born and raised in Brooklyn, John began the piano at age eight, studying classical concert piano. As he progressed through many recitals and concerts, he began to find that he was interested in something beyond the traditional role of the pianist. He was accepted into the Performing Arts High School and his horizons began to rapidly develop. His focus shifted towards the funk, gospel and New Orleans styles and his new influences became Stevie Wonder, Dr. John, Alan Touissant, Bill Payne (Little Feat), and Brent Mydland. He then made his Exodus to L.A. in 1989 to attend the USC jazz studies program. Soon he was immersed in the worlds Bill Evans, Thelonious Monk, Art Tatum, Keith Jarret, and Charlie Parker. His extensive knowledge of styles and and tone would began to take his concoction of jazz, funk and rock piano to the next level. He was beginning to be known all over the L.A. music scene and was soon becoming involved in numerous projects. In 1991 Rand befriended John at an open jam and the two of them began discussing the possibilities of sampling and synthesis combined with traditional musical styles. In 1993, Freshly Baked was formed and the two were on their way to experimentation and composition. In the meanwhile John was landing several session and sideman gigs with big names, his first being Terrence Trent D'Arby in 1994 for the "Vibrator" World Tour. Soon he would be playing on the David Letterman Show as well as Jay Leno. Next, he was onto another World Tour with Ian Ashbury from The Cult and his band of Holy Barbarians. His next big act was a National Tour with Lili Haydn (Atlantic Records) opening for Matchbox 20 and The Rolling Stones. John continues to expand his horizons as he has become well known on the Reggae scene with Bamiki Bandula, on the Latin/Salsa scene with Banderas, and even in the Secular Gospel circles. All the while John has remained focused at writing and recording original music with Freshly Baked. His extensive experience and knowledge of all styles have made his contributions to Freshly Baked invaluable as he currently acts as the Musical Director. He fits into any musical style flawlessly and is glad to take a difficult solo when thrown at him. Outside the music, John smokes Marlboro Mediums and American Spirits but has on a desperate occasion smoked a menthol.

Found in a wicker-basket while floating down the twisted, war-torn veins of the Mekong Delta,Son Vo was fostered by a family of Zen-Buddhist, stick-fighting warrior-monks. They taught Son the most valueable of lessons, especially the lessons learned by Great Uncle Tung Tu Long.Mastering the Great,Ancient Martial Art forms Kung Pao,Tae Kwon Do,Lik Mi,Ti-Ti Ka-Ka and YahtZee from Great Uncle Tung,Son as well began developing an intimate relationship with his fine collection of hand-made,ceramic,chromatic water-jugs.They were given to Son by his admiring Aunt Lip So Big,Who told Son to practice them diligently and some day the practicing would pay off.If not seen sparring with Great Uncle Tung and the other monks,Son could be found escaping into the city to play his two LOW-NOTE WATER-JUGS in the subway's tiled tunnels. One wintry-cold afternoon as Son was blowing away most voraciously in the tunnels,a man began clapping enthusiastically, claiming healing powers existed within the Low-Notes of Son's Water Jugs.Crawling slowly closer towards Son,the praising stranger placed a bass-guitar into Son's hands and whispered,"This Can Become You As You Become It." Holding it close to his body, Son could hear the instrument singing Ancient Spanish-Asian lullabyes. Knowing how pleased his Great Uncle and Aunt would be to know of such a gift, Son fled eighteen miles back to the temples in an ecstatic, euphoric state.Indeed, his Great Uncle and Aunt were pleased with his new gift and he went along practicing the instrument with fervor, leaving the dust to gather on his ceramic, chromatic water-jugs.

In November of '96, Rand embarked on an expedition to Peru in search for a mystical hidden treasure somewhere in the Andes mountains. Accompanying him was his trusty band of musicologists. After searching aimlessly for weeks on end over the treacherous mountainside, food and water became scarce and morale hit an all time low. Rand's fellow journeymen eventually lost faith in their quest and turned back, but Rand continued to forge ahead alone. He decided to climb to the highest peak on the mountain range to see if he could detect any clues from the landscape. What he didn't realize is that he was about to stumble upon something far greater than any hidden treasure. When he reached the top he discovered what appeared to be a human being frozen in a block of ice. Using every ounce of energy he had left, Rand hauled the frozen body down the mountainside and eventually met up with the rest of the group. They managed to get body back to the lab where they began the defrosting process. When the process was completed, Rand had confirmed that the body was that of a neandrathal man. Rand was going to donate the body to science until he noticed that the body displayed vital signs. Just then, the caveman jumped off the lab table and started beating furiously on counter tops and walls. Rand immediately saw the potential in this wonder of nature and pointed to the set of drums in the corner of the lab. The caveman raced over to the drums and began to beat the drums like a mad man. His rythyms, odd and even, sometimes simple, sometimes complex, were of great musical and scientific interest. The hairy beast played until his hands were bloodied and every ounce of breath was depleted. Having been plagued by unloyal musicians, especially drummers, Rand realized the potential of the situation. He decided ] to shave the beastly man from head to toe and teach him to walk erect. Next, Rand put a pair of drumsticks in his hands and decided to call him Neil. The rest is history! Neil's infleunces are thunder, fire, rocks and BIG HEAVY STICKS!
