by Friends from a Distance

The creativity of “Friends From a Distance” music touches very real emotions. Katie Perry fans ain't going to like their tunes, but fans of Alternative Rock, Americana / Folk, the music reminiscent of T-Bone Burnett’s work - stark, emotional and honest production, that seeps into the individual's soul more deeply and richly with each listen are going to be inspired that artists who can write intelligent lyrics punctuated by textured music are still practising their craft. Although the public at large rarely are in step, real people will find A diamond in the Rough!! If you enjoy moments of personal reflection, take an hour or so drive with these songs.

Through the years music has been my Idyll Muse, always a pastime activity to occupy myself, for relaxation and escape. I never really had a drive to pursue a full on music career. Sure it was a dream, but that type of drive and determination would have to be triggered and illuminated by a very real gift or talent to achieve success the way I would want it, or even to make a living at it. One of my first jobs was working for a Record Distributor. We had Record & Tape stores and promoted acts and distributed record & tape manufacturing labels large and small. I was promoted to Purchaser where I was paid to listen to new releases and decide how many units to buy, etc. I loved it. I also got to experience the business side of the music industry and learn it a bit for myself. This was the mid 1970’s to early 80’s—(a different animal compared to today). It kept me humble in my own musical aspirations. It takes specially gifted personalities, talent, commitment, focus and energy to live the dream of a “Successful Artist”. Reality Bites- I would never possess all those tools. But I still possess that soul. My Uncle was a very successful musician who had his own television show playing keyboards, piano & organ. He was one of the creative driving forces behind the Kids TV show “Tiny Talent Time” in the 1960’s and I have heard he had a part in writing the theme song, as well as recording and touring the world. I have numerous cousins that play – such as David Carlo, of the band “Razor”, who has had success in the Heavy Metal world (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Razor_(band), and others that play all kinds of instruments for fun and professionally, as well as acting on stage and TV. So I know it’s in me. I love to write. Song-writing is my main passion for a hobby. For a period of time I was heavily into coaching baseball as both my son’s played at the Rep and College level. But I have always come back to that “Idyll Muse”, to connect with my needs for downtime and personal space, to that inward Creative guy. So “BC’s Idyll Muse” is an apt title for these Indie music releases, for that is the source.
I have been blessed to meet friends through the years who share this common interest. Musicians immensely more talented than I in their musical instrument playing abilities, who graciously come along side me to bring songs to fruition. It is a wonderful feeling. Teamwork. Expression, interpretation, creative passion, all banded together and let loose towards a common goal. Present an idea, determine a direction and unleash the beast. I do not need an audience. I do not need to make money. I do need these friends and these moments. I want them to experience the worth and value of what they do so well, so I am compelled to present this music we have made together to the indie artist world utilizing the outlets available, that some will hear and comment, and hopefully enjoy and relate.
