Exquisite Harmonies, High Energy

Australian sensation, FRUIT are on their way to becoming one of the hottest new music exports from Down Under. With 3 frontline women - Susie Keynes, Sam Lohs and Mel Watson, 2 wielding electric and acoustic guitars and the other commanding an arsenal of horns. Each of them sings, writes and locks seamlessly to the other. It's a vocal blend reminiscent of the great harmonisers of our time.

Add to this collaboration the snap lock brotherly groove of the rhythm section: Yanya Boston's gutsy, rhythmic passion on drums, Brian Ruiz's groove-laden bass and two more velvet voices.

That is Fruit. Hard to pin down- perhaps best described as acoustic pop, Fruit's eclectic set also touches funk, blues, rock and groove.

Of outrageous appeal however are the strength of the vocals and the dramatic use of harmonies.

Operating independently since 1995, this music and performance powerhouse has grown from an instantly popular local outfit based in Adelaide, Australia, to an internationally renowned and sort after festival attraction.

From the WOMAD circuit to the Edinburgh Fringe - the U.S. and Canadian Festivals to the outback of home - five years of solid international touring has defined the depth and reach of this band.

Be it heart-lifting ballads, gut wrenching blues, scorching torch or rocky liberation, FRUIT delivers something for everyone, if you like music that fires your imagination, that is...

'Acoustic gentleness, sublime pop, rock tinged... infectious melodies"
_Juice Magazine

South X South West, Austin Texas
"If Norah Jones had us daydreaming in the middle of a smoky bar, an Australian band named FRUiT had an afternoon audience singing, clapping and whistling."
Taylor Holliday _The Wall Street Journal

'Spanning the register from warm sensuality to soaring, searing passion, quick-fire rap to a belly-deep blusey growl. Irresistible all round entertainment."_The Scotsman, Edinburgh

"In the 27 year history of Summerfolk, seldom have we presented an act who had such an overwhelming impact on the entire show. Fruit shattered our CD sales record and we can't wait to share them with our patrons once again this year. FRUIT is one of those live acts that just have to be SEEN!!" _ Don Bird Artistic Director

"...destined to be one of the great acts of the new millennium' _ Steven Schmidt, Rochester City Civic Arts

Still a Huge Fan

Not the quality of excellence and variety I'd come to expect.
Burn was rather disappointing for me. One absolutely superb piece (Peace), two songs I'll most likely learn to enjoy, and the rest - in my opinion - not up to the level of excellence and variety I have come to love about this amazing band. The cd seemed to drone on without much difference between the styles of the members that I've learned to expect. It sounded as if Suzie, Mel and Sam had been been blended together and their music suffered from it.

My deepest apologies for the previous review.
I first listened to Burn on my home stereo. There was something about it that put me off, thus the previous review. I set the disc aside for some weeks, and the case gathered dust.
I eventually put it with all my other Fruit discs in my travel cd case, and decided to give it another go in my car, a convertible, and the top was down. I loved it! Played it frequently, didn't understand my initial reaction - until.... I chanced to be listening to the disc on my walkman.
Then it struck me. The difference is the refinement of Burn. I've been used to Fruit's discs sounding like a studio version of their live performances: raw, gritty, individualistic. When in my car, with the top down, Burn's smoothness dissipated. Burn is raw, gritty, and individualistic, but with a fluid elegance shining throughout.
Burn is subtly different, and all the more sublime for it. It is a truely exquisite cd.

Can't Get Enough!!
I saw these gals in November & I swear this CD has been in my CD player ever since!! These additional copies I keep buying are to give as gifts to my friends as I know they will love it too! Love it!! Love it!! Love it!!

Spiritual Music Perfection
Burn is a melodic blending of spiritual tones that lifts the soul and lightens the heart. The sound is like no other with its unique style and blended harmonies. It has the best of both slow and fast paced music to leave you in a mood of perfect balance. The lyrics speak a truth that I hope all can hear in many different ways. This is music of the soul and expression of who we are.

It`s absulately amazing album
First time i heard about Fruit and ordered cd as my closest friend real fan of the group. I wanted to give her a birthday gift as well as i had chance to explore new songs.I really liked the album.

Takes Fruit to a new level.
If you are a Fruit fan, you are in for a treat with "Burn." This group is continually evolving and "Burn" shows the world yet another piece of Australian versatility. A supreme harmonic blend of music that can't be pinned to genre now adds strings to some already amazing songs. Make certain to play this when you can really listen - the music holds some amazing truth to be shared.

I bought this CD after seeing Fruit totally by chance in Vancouver, Canada and I listen to it over and over. It's just a wonderful CD. If Only For the Sun is one of the most beautiful songs that I have heard in some time. Thank you ladies.
