Album Notes
Danny Frye & The D-Dolls are a fresh breath of air in the face of a stale music industry...."an band that is going to have profound stylistic and musical influence on today's pop culture."

Danny Frye & The D-Dolls hail from the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame City Cleveland, Ohio. The band plays a unique mix of punk rock that incorporates a blend of 50's rockabilly & doo-wop, generating a musical style like no other! The bands influences range from Social Distortion to T. Rex, and everything in between.

The bands front man, Danny Frye is almost as colourful of a character as the music that they play. Danny is the ex-lead guitarist for Sylvain Sylvain(The New York Dolls), one of the great punk rock pioneers.

Danny Frye's credentials read like a who's who of punk rock history. He's shared the stage with a full roster of punk rock heros, everyone from The Ramones and Joan Jett, to The Stooges and The Gang of Four, this boy has been around!
Now fronting The D-dolls, Danny & his wild band of hellbent rockers, which now features ex-Yo-Yo's guitarists Tom Spencer & Neil Phillips, and Drummer Scott Garrett(The B-Movie Heroes are on a mission to take over the music industry that has been overrun by boy bands & manufactured pop acts!

Danny Frye & The D-Dolls debut full length LP titled "Hellbent" is a 48 minute emotional roller coaster ride of pop ridden rock n' roll that takes you from the highest highs to the lowest lows. This record is filled with great hooks, anthem like choruses, and rippin' riffs that make you want to jam air guitar, pump your fist in the air, and scream out at the top of your lungs....."HELL YEAH, this is ROCK N' ROLL!!!"

July 2003 Danny Frye passed away from complications to diabetes. 50% of album sales will goto a diabetic foundation in Danny Frye's name.

Wow is all I can say! When I put this record in the first time it kicked me in the teath! There is something about this album that sends goosebumps throughout my body when I listen to it at full volume in the car. It's got so much power, the song craft is great, the band is extremely great, Dannys singing, and guitar playing is second to none. It's a mix between Billy Idol, Elvis, and Marc Bolan, mixed with the power and intensity of my 454 big block engine crankin' up at full throttle! The production on this by Bill Chylik is just top notch, can't go without mentioning that guys effort as well. Supprised not to see more items out buy the young producer. I heard he cut his teath working on some early NFG, and MxPx stuff, Amazing in his own right! My advice to all BUY THIS RECORD!

What an album!!!
Danny was one of those guys you just can't figure out how he didn't become a huge star. He had the look, the sound and all the songs he could've ever needed. Maybe he just left us too fast?

Still a regular in the cd mix, a classic album IMO.

Danny did it again!

This album is great!
Danny Frye was a real Rock-n-Roller. I have an enormous amount of respect for this man. I am just sad that he is no longer here with us to make more of his great music. I first discovered Danny's music a few years ago when I bought a "BopDead" CD at a second hand record store. I was instantly blown away by Danny's sound and music and have been a hardcore fan ever since.

Definitely buy "HELLBENT" and then try and find a copy of "Where Robots Go To Die" by "BopDead" Danny's previous band. They both Rock hard!!!

Black Velvet

Rock N' Roll at it's best!!
One of the best records around! This is the best new rock n' roll to come along in ages! The record combines great guitar playing and superior vocals like no other before!!

Duane Hibbard

Great modern day Rockabilly
Great CD. Good songs lots of energy. I was a big fan of his other band Boop Dead. Always hopped my old band Uncle Tiki would play a show with him some day. Sad he's no longer with us.

Craig's Music Club

Rockabilly with a punk sensibility
Danny Frye and the Devildolls could be described as "the Stray Cats meet Billy Idol" and it wouldn't be far off. Rockabilly roots are clearly nearby when Frye and the D-dolls take up their instruments and he starts belting out bar songs that could have been written fifty years ago, but with a punk feel. Frye calls it "punkabilly." "Sleepin' Off"--with its refrain of "I spend the daytime sleepin' off everything I tend to do to myself"--will surely ring a familiar chord and be humming in many a hungover head.
Other highlights are "Dyin' Inside You," "Blue Eyed Angel," and final cut "Sugar Coated" (complete with obligatory stopping-record effect). Frye died from complications of diabetes, but he has left behind a terrific album that carries on his personal vision of fun, fun, fun.

This is one of the best cd's I have heard in a long time. The way it mixes it up with the rockin tunes and the beautiful balads... just spectacular!! Played it so much it is getting worn out.

My ass is thoroughly kicked!
This is the BEST CD I've purchased in 5 years...and I buy hundreds a year. PRETTY FACE is one of the most perfect songs ever tracked in a studio, EVER. Man, Danny really had it all, why he wasn't HUGE is beyond me. This stuff should appeal to a really wide audience, because it can't be pigeonholed. A little rockabilly, a little psychobilly, some power pop, punk, new wave and a lot of rock and roll, and usually all of the above in the space of ONE SONG! Impressive.
Danny had a cool warble in his voice, kinda like Marc Bolan with a lot more power. Actually, you can hear a lot of T-Rex in here, as well as Social Distortion, but everything is filtered through HUGE hooks and a punchy, power pop style production.
I wish I had the chance to see him live before he passed on, because Danny was total rock and roll kool.

The album is kickin'! What more can I say?

I met Dan in 1997 when his band Bop Dead came to my small town of Portales NM. He played at Goober's our only bar. They were great and after the show he and his band came over to my place and stayed the night. I have always loved his music, needless to say, he left a huge impression on me that night and I will never forget him. I'll miss you Dan
