ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
One-man-band Richard Rummery's songwriting and musical genius here fuses majestic rock with guitar-heavy pop delicacies, distinct and ever changing vocals keep the flexrock intensity high. with every song a clear winner, as usual. Irony, social and political critique, and humour bubble around on the heavier tracks Fireaway (Cu on facebook)', 'Day in the sun.' Rummery has retained the spontaniety by using mainly first-takes as he often does (also due to limited recording circumstances). The sublime title track 'Sandy', (about a drowned surfer girl) is poignant and visceral; the balladic 'I won't lead you on' and 'In these fields' counterbalance the pop deliciousness of 'Can you feel?' and 'Last girl standing.' An old bluesy classic from the Rum Company days 'Jimmy' is a feature, as is the catchy 'Lovecraft'.
Sandy represents a positive development on Rummery's immense musical catalogue, including the albums Unsound, Thump. Violet Millions, Reflexion and The Kissing tree. ftprints11 is a vehicle to communicate through familiar genres and styles, a must-have for all serious fans of innovative artists and Sandy is no exception.
