Album Notes
What is Tango? A melancholy thought that can be danced? The musical expression of nostalgia? The mythology of tango is complex and elusive. What we know is that Tango was born from the wave of immigration to Argentina in the late Nineteenth century. Predominantly Italian and Spanish immigrants created a cultural mix that was in turn inspired by the popular Cuban Tango Habanera, the rural Milonga dance, and African Candombe drumming from neighbouring Uruguay.

Fuego Lento are a Sydney based Tango quintet formed in 2007.Bringing together an eclectic mix of musicians, they are united be a desire to explore Tango; from Osvalado Pugliese's more traditional sounds to the more contemporary Nuevo Tango of Astor Piazzolla.

Exploring the music in concert and at Milongas[Tango venues], the group have developed an exciting and original approach, creating a fusion of the diverse experiences brought by each member. 'Un Sueno Raro' features 5 original compositions from the pianist and ensemble leader Daniel Wallace-Crabbe.
