Tobias Klein’s group Full Fathom Five presents a new project titled BISON RAVI. It is inspired by the works of the French writer and musician Boris Vian (1920-1959). Full Fathom Five pays homage to this provocative poet with a repertoire in which contemporary jazz, psychedelic folk and experimental rock music combine into a sound of its own. Rather than going back to the 40’s and 50’s, Full Fathom Five aims to translate Vian’s spirit and his esthetic, his humour, lyricism, brutality and cross-grainedness into a contemporary sound. Psychedelic folk and experimental rock play an important role in BISON RAVI.

In the 1990’s singer Sylvia de Hartog was very active in the Dutch scene, playing and touring with, among others, Tony Overwater’s Motion Music, Niko Langenhuijsen’s Caoutchouc, the Metropool Orkest and her own band Vote. She has played with people like Anton Goudsmit,Eric Vloeimans, Benjamin Herman and Baenz Oester. After having worked in the UK, Greece and Germany for several years, she has recently returned to the Netherlands.

Saxophonist and bass clarinet player Tobias Klein has been (co-)leading the groups Man Bites Dog, Dalgoo and President of the Globe; touring all over Europe, Russia and India.
He has played with Chris Speed, Benoît Delbecq and John Zorn. Current projects include the quartet Buyukberber/De Joode/Klein/Vatcher and the Spinifex Orchestra.

Bassguitarist Mark Haanstra has won numerous prizes in the Netherlands and abroad. He can be heard with jazz groups such as Agog (with Joost Lijbaart and Frank Wingold), Osmosis (with a.o. Chander Sardjoe and Guillaume Orti) and Voer (with Oene van Geel) as well as in contemporary composed music and opera ensembles like De Nederlandse Opera and Nieuw Ensemble.

Guitarist Raphael Vanoli is one of the most-in-demand young guitar players of the moment in the Netherlands, admired for his extremely broad spectrum of guitar sounds. He plays in groups like Tetzepi Bigtet, Jasper Blom’s Ars Subtilior and Raj Mohan’s Vistar; playing major festivals and touring all over Europe.

Uli Genenger studied drums in Amsterdam, Berlin and New York. He has played with a.o. Aki Takase , Gebhard Ullmannin and the fantastic trio Koan(with Oguz Buyukberber and Valdi Kolli). Current projects include Fidan and the New-York based groupTroglodytes which recently toured the US.
