The New Jersey 4-piece’s name is a contradiction that came from a song written in the band’s early days. “When you hear FULL OUT FREAK you think crazy, insane, off the charts, out there, etc,” explains bassist Eric. “We are a band that thrives on just being ourselves. We write straight up, in your face, pop rock songs. We liked the irony of people thinking FULL OUT FREAK is going to be this out of control band, when in fact our music is all about melody, structure and feel.”

From the 3 year old version of vocalist Joey, singing at his parent’s kitchen table, to an adolescent Eric, slapping his bass to the sounds of Aerosmith, to the 12 year old drummer Justin, trying his damnedest to twirl his sticks like Tommy Lee, this band has been ‘at it’ their whole lives. “It never occurred to me NOT to do it,” says Joey when asked about what drew him to music as a career. Eric echoes that by adding “At an early age music grabbed me tightly and never let me go.”

Songwriting is a collaborative process for FULL OUT FREAK. “I always want to complement everything Joey does and try to make the drums speak in a way that best captures the feeling, vibe or emotion that he wants to convey,” says Justin. Those emotions – particularly on songs like “Photograph” – are universal sentiments. The track deals with the disappointment in trying to re-connect with people you had to leave behind to pursue your dreams. The thrust behind “After All” is summed up by the outro – “sometimes late is better than never.” The newly featured song “Loser Anyway,” speaks to “that friend we all have who's with someone they shouldn't be with but they're the only one's who don't seem to know that,” says Joey. “This is a song inspired by the situation of one such friend (names omitted to protect the guilty). I actually heard the opening guitar riff and melody while walking through the mall and left immediately to go home and work on the song....which was nearly done by the time I pulled up to my front door.” The resulting sound is memorable, energetic and sure to endure through time.

It is a rare band that understands that a record deal is a beginning of the next-level process, not the end goal, FULL OUT FREAK is ready, willing and abundantly able to win over rock radio, the press and lovers of music worldwide in the long-term sense. “We want to become a staple in American music,” says Joey. “a band with staying power and we will work hard to make that happen. It’s that simple.”

it’s modern rock, like the Foo Fighters, but they have more of a pop flare ala C

This self-titled CD has been hanging around the office for a while and I must give it it’s props. You see, every time I put it in my CD player, I end up listening to the whole thing and enjoying it. FULL OUT FREAK are an energized foursome out of New Jersey, who go against the grain. I wouldn’t call them an alternative band. They are more of a pop band. Sure it’s modern rock, like the Foo Fighters, but they have more of a pop flare ala Cheap Trick. It’s heavy guitars with catchy choruses. They are melodic and they all seem to sing with some nice harmonies, layered over those guitar riffs. The CD opens with “After All”, that grabs you by the balls and grabs your ears at the same time. With it’s aggressive guitars and pop styled vocals, chunky rhythms and crashing cymbals. ‘Little Conversations” really shows their power pop influences. On “I’ll Be Damned”, I hear an acoustic guitar underneath it all, and I’ll be damned if it doesn’t have a sing along chorus. ”Another Story” has vocals not unlike the Greenberry Woods, with tambourine and a touching bass line. The opening of “What It’s Worth”, softly builds up, while the vocals are in a lower register here. All of the songs on this CD seem to have heartfelt lyrics about real life experiences, sung with passion, without ever losing their edge. So if you like your rock, energized and melodic, with clean and out front vocals, then check out Full Out Freak. We’re all freaks in our own way. Check’em out, this is a self titled debut by a serious trio who went full out on their first release.

Full of potential, originality and talent!
Full Out Freak melds edgy, modern rock with melodic, power pop. Their twelve-track CD features catchy choruses sung in harmony layered over heavy guitar riffs. FOF writes songs about life and relationships and they bring passion to their playing. They cite a wide range of influences from Cheap Trick to the Foo Fighters. 'After All' is the attention grabbing opener that sets the tone for the rest of the album. It has smoldering guitars fusing with strong vocals and lots of animation. 'Little Conversation' is more melodic but still packs a punch. The dueling guitars and steady rhythm keeps pace with Joey's fervent singing. 'Loser Anyway' is another high-energy track with scorching guitar and bass riffs layered over powerful solo and harmonizing vocals. Full Out Freak is full of potential, originality and talent!

Without A Doubt The Best Idependant CD Released In A Very Long Time
I didn't quite know what to expect when the CD arrived. When it got here I popped it in my surround system in my home, sat back and turned it way up. From the opening of After All I was convinced right off the bat to sit and listen from beginning to end. Move on up to I'll Be Dammed and you've got tons of hooky lyrical content and a flat out pure commercial musical genius of a song destined for greatness. The musical structure of Loser Anyway made me long to dig up my old E'Nuff Z'Nuff CD's from the closet. Take the Pain Away showcases the band's tightness from a musical and vocal perspective and features a driving bass section which is used to drive the song from beginning to end.
How can you berate a CD wherein each and every single track included on it screams out commercial greatness.
After listening to this CD over and over again I can tell you that this band without question will run circles around the greater 95 percent of the rock bands out there that you hear right now signed to major labels.
This band is without a doubt destined for greatness!! The major label industry really needs to clean the wax out of their ears and sign these guys nationally right away because the rest of the world needs to hear what genius the boys of Full Out Freak are dishing out here.
Without question does this CD come with my highest recomendation. Just incredible and I can't wait to hear what's next!!
