Album Notes

“We find ourselves less and less interested in the normal way of doing things”

Formed in Austin, Texas 13 years ago by Philly transplant brothers Bonesaw (guitar, backing vocals) and Hoag (lead vocals, drums), Full Service also includes Smell (percussion, guitar, backing vocals) and Weber (bass, backing vocals).
Spending 30% of each year on the road, they headline club tours and support for such bands as 311, State Radio, The Wailers and RX Bandits. In addition, they’ve found ways to engage more directly with their diehard fan base by pioneering the now-trendy fan-hosted shows in living rooms, backyards, breweries, school assemblies, horse farms, sky-diving festivals, and wherever else (since 2011).

That bond is so strong that Full Service now hosts its own version of a rock festival, the Full Service Circus. The weekend-long event brings 300-500 fans from 32 different states to the band’s home to experience Austin through the lifestyle and music of Full Service. (The 3rd Circus took place October 14-16, 2016.)

Dubbed “Heavy Sunshine Rock” by Kevin Curtin of The Austin Chronicle, Full Service’s music is rooted in the tradition of the Beach Boys (their melodies, harmonies and studio experimentation); the heavy riff-rock of Guns N’ Roses and Mastodon; the indie sounds of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Grizzly Bear; and hard-to-categorize outfits such as Ween and the Flaming Lips.

To date, the band has released nine studio albums and one 7-inch vinyl single with a new record coming June 2017. In 2012 they released a feature length documentary film, Takeover!, which chronicles a 16-city tour of amphitheater parking lots, where they played unsanctioned shows for tailgaters who had arrived for a 311/Snoop Dogg concert.

Not surprisingly, Full Service has found offbeat, dynamic ways to release their albums. In October, 2013, they debuted Carousel with a live variety show webcast where fans called in to order a special edition of the album. The first 200 callers received two copies of Carousel (one for a friend) AND a tree sapling to plant in their yards. All 200 copies sold, and there are now "Carousel Trees" planted all around the country.

“I remember wrapping all those little tree saplings in damp paper towels and stuffing them carefully into big envelopes. It was one of those moments when you wonder if your band is crazy or brilliant. Or both.”
It is exactly this homespun spirit that inspires the fervent fan loyalty that helps Full Service chart its own course through the choppy seas of today’s music business.
