ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes

Lanercost Sessions 2 is a live recording of FuMar, Phil Furneaux (Saxophones) and Krys Markowski (piano) in a 13th Century Priory playing their own emotive and profound compositions and interpreting some classical pieces (jazz-classical fusion). The recording captures the unique sound of the space where the notes “hang in the air”.
Phil and Krys hope their dialogues on this album keep the listener in suspense while providing a full range of emotions.

1. Sunday Morning in Paris / Phil Furneaux and Krys Markowski
2. Grez on the Water / Krys Markowski and Phil Furneaux

All tracks recorded in the Lanercost Priory, Brampton, Cumbria, UK and thanks to Dr Rev Rod Allon- Smith for allowing FuMar to use this spiritual place to play their music.
FuMar want to pay a special tribute and give their thanks to the magical sound engineer Duncan Thornley, MAP Studios, for the recording and mixing of all the tracks.
FuMar also thank Alex Green, bassist on track 3, for an invaluable contribution to the piece.
Track 5 is an addition … and is seen as FuMar’s ongoing project: to sample and improvise around different sections of Beethoven’s sublime String Quartet 131 in subsequent performances.
