ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Hailing from NYC, THE FUZZ HAUNTED is the latest musical collaboration from Steve Dawson & Randy Lord. The two were members/creators of the extroverted,costume-adorning 70s' rock/R&B quintet BAD ASS FRANKLIN & THE STRANGTECULAR BAND. THE FUZZ HAUNTEDS' songs are the foundation of this record, each track has its' own identity, heavily marked by two distinct vocal harmonies of Lord & Dawson. Many instruments ranging from loud, nasty guitar tones to accordions, singing saws, wisely used feedback, church organs and police sirens beautifully color the tracks, whizzing from left to right.
Electronic-but-analog-spiced musical interludes bridge gaps between some songs, which gives this record a flowing continuity ~ a listen through headphones is pleasing ear-candy. Dawson & Lord wrote, played, sang & recorded every note heard on this self-titled release, with help from drummer James Lord on three tracks . The Beatles' White Album era meets hints of Peter Gabriel, Tom Waits and Guided By Voices might be a good comparison. In 2004 T.F.H. performed as an atmospheric duo around Manhattans' Lower East Side. Now, the group is performing with a full band, capturing the sound on their latest record.
-----------------
The Fuzz Haunted is a power pop infected duo composed of Steve Dawson and Randy Lord, a pair who mix their catchy and smart rock with the quirky otherworldliness of psychedelia.

At times the vocals are delivered in a breathless, Pink Floyd-esque monotone, while the big guitars swirl and swoon with drippy effects. At others, they go for subtle sounds and quiet moments. Thankfully, their approach isn't formulaic, letting their songs breathe and grow in their own creativity---allowing each listen to reveal something new. The end result is a record that defies a simple categorization, a sound that stands all on its own.

i'm pretty hung up on the wet song- the whole cd is pretty tight, but i find myself looping the wet song once i get to it. something about the horns really captivates me. but don't let me fool you, listen to the whole kit and kaboodle, you'll be quite pleased.

Mystery white boys
I must say that this is a good album. There's a raw psychedelic feel to it with a modern touch. And the good news is that it really works!
I was told by the guitarist of the band that the name The Fuzz Haunted was derived from a random phrase used by William S. Burroughs in his literature and it works very well despite the fact that the music can be melodic at times. But that doesn't take away from the edgy experimental side of it. It enchances it. This is a journey where all the tracks blend in well together.
1) tiger balm has a good hook and is the best track to open up this album. I like this one.
2) resume is also very cool with nice spacey effects. The vocals have also cool effects on it.
3) better umbrella which is one of my favorite tracks has a choral bluesy feel to it and has an interesting arrangement. The interlude that comes in after the song finishes is very cool.
4) wet song is a more upbeat track with a cool country vibe to it. I'm digging the guitars on this one. This one should make you wet. ;0
5) oh, what a day in my own humble opinion has a lenny kravitz vibe to it but in a more experimental way. For me it's a hit or miss really as I'm not a Kravitz fan unfortunately.
6) Bleed ice cream is a track I was trying to figure out what it was about. I'm gonna guess it has something to do with losing innocence?? It's a nice track with a nice interlude afterwards.
7) Crazy is a short but cool jam.
8) A very pine house bows out nice and smooth. The vocals remind me of scott weiland's and that's a good thing believe me. I'm loving the fuzzy (no pun intended) guitars as well.
All in all, a great effort and I'm dying to see this material performed live. I'll be front row and center!

I love this. This is the bomb! I was really feeling this a lot. This is more like it. I am sick and tired of the shite on the radio. This is the type of stuff they should be playing. I hope to see and here more of it.

Can Man

Syd Barrett hits Tom Waits with his psychedelic stick. Nice!
Good stuff from the Fuzz Haunted boys. Every spin of this record I find something different and amusing. Plenty of tight hooks which ring in your head like a nice Martini.
Can't wait to hear what they come up with next.

Took a chance and loved it
Someone recommended this band and I have to say I love it. It is hard to put a label on the sound. It is like they took Beatlesque melodies and some very progressive sounds n dropped it in a blender. Great stuff...you should check it out.
