Album Notes
Gabriele Morgan has a rich history in the Los Angeles music scene, going back to her first solo EP "Buried Treasure" (What? Records), her band Doll Congress with Michael Penn (Enigma Records) and her subsequent group Valentine's Revenge (Interscope) with fellow writers and players Gar Robertson and John Bitzer.

More recently she has been recording and producing her own solo tracks, which include songs as well as instrumental pieces and the ambient series called the Savasanas. Debuted on the CD "Savasanas I - IV", Savasana V is the latest in a new series of works called "Inner Time Music". "Inner Time Music" music allows the listener to drift into deep inner realms and disconnect from our usual physical focus which requires we keep up with the clock on the wall, on our phones, on our computers, TVs and other devices, and which instead invites us to recharge our beings in the spacious timeless dimensions within in which we all have our source. It is recommended for any activities where relaxation and letting go are primary goals.

The concept was inspired by a commission from master yoga teacher Annie Carpenter for music to accompany the final, deep relaxation section (the yoga posture or "asana" known as "Corpse Pose" or, in Sanskrit, "Savasana") of a DVD for participants in a UCLA study led by Annie. The only directions given were that there must be no pulse in the compositions, and that they had to be two minutes long, and that several were needed for different sequences.

These original short pieces found their way into the hands of another well known and respected Los Angeles yoga teacher, Vinnie Marino (of Yoga Works in Santa Monica). Vinnie found the pieces totally captivating but too short to allow for prolonged enjoyment of this most transformational asana, and he suggested they be expanded to 10 minutes each and that 4 of them comprise a CD he could use in his class and in his personal practice. "Savasanas I - IV" the fruit of that suggestion.

Although they do not contain anything marking time, these works are not formless. They each have central themes which are stated, evolve and reprise as each track develops, so they are not purely ambient or unstructured. Three of the tracks feature wordless vocals. They feature acoustic and electric guitar, piano, synthesizer, and Gabriele's sensual and emotional vocal textures.

The Savasanas have made their way around the planet and are heard and used in most countries you can name- they speak a universal language we all understand. Hear for yourself!
