Album Notes
Music started early in Gail Dorey's life. As she writes: "My grandfather and father were both singers. My siblings all sang and played instruments. In elementary school I took dance lessons, learned the recorder and played the cello for four years.

"In junior high I sang in the “glee club” (great name) and was in a four-girl singing group called The Four Teens. In high school I studied the clarinet, was in the marching band, and sang in the school choir. I also started teaching myself how to play the piano by ear.

"When I arrived at college I started playing guitar. A few years after college, I began a long stint as a bass player/singer in a wedding and function band. I was also a bass player in a band called Rockaway for two years, performing regularly at the Winery, Copperfield’s, and the Eliot Lounge.

"After Rockaway I found myself entering the world of church music. My Christian and church music experience has included folk masses, playing bass, piano and guitar, singing hymns, contemporary worship and contemporary Christian music, dinner theater, musicals, concerts, bands, performing at a youth facility, street fairs, festivals, and leading worship music at women’s retreats.

"Since 1999 I have been the bass player/singer in the worship band at Covenant Church in Arlington, MA. I currently lead singing at a bible study at an assisted living facility.

"Music is one of God’s most amazing languages and has been a constant in my life. It has kept me steady in my faith, brought me closer to God and has been both a comfort and a source of ministry. It has afforded me opportunities, experiences and has led me to amazing friends.

"Music touches on the eternal - age is irrelevant; language is not a hindrance and music can go Deeper Than Words. Music allows me to express the inexpressible, release the emotions and bring joy and healing to a hurting world. What a privilege to carry this gift through life."

Footnote: In 1993 Gail co-wrote the song "Our Town" with Linda Picceri. On September 18, 2008 it was adopted by the Watertown Town Council as the official song of the Town of Watertown.

Gail writes: "I started writing songs the day after my father died. I wrote “My Father’s Song” as a way to say goodbye. I ended up rewriting that song in 2006 as “Seek God’s Face In Prayer.”

"In 1986 I wrote “On The Road Alone” for the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare’s annual conference.

"I wrote “I Will Rejoice in the Lord” 15 years ago as my first Christian song.

"About six years ago the pastor at Covenant Church encouraged the members of the music team to write original music. Out of this prompting I wrote “Sing A New Song”, “Trust God”, “Love Will Prevail”, “Give Praise To God”, “The Journey”, and “Beyond Words.”

"During the recording process Peter Vantine (producer) and I decided that the CD needed one more song. I wrote “Deeper Than Words” as the companion song for “Beyond Words.”"

Deeper Than Words
I have known Gail over a decade and was so overwhelmed when I heard her recent music--Deeper Than Words. Words are inadequate to describe the feelings one has when listening to her music. I recently had a heart attack and was depressed, Gail sent me her CD and when I listened I was uplifted. She brought the word of God to me through her music, it is inspirational, meaningful and oh so beautiful to listen. Yes it is like an angel singing and the instrumental is uplifting. I highly recommend Gail's music and I personally will buy some of her CD's for my friends. I feel so at peace after listening to Deeper Than Words.

Deeper Than Words
Gail is truely anointed. Each song, truely written by the hand of God, speaks to my heart in such a way that I know the love He has for me and see that my love for Him is growing deeper every day - a love that truely does go deeper than words.
