About the Composer:

For more than twenty years, happily working “under the radar” as a composer and arranger in New York City, Jon Grindstaff created music for television and radio commercials, often composing, arranging and producing hundreds of pieces of music each year.

His range and abilities gave him the opportunity to work occasionally with a diverse group of well-known artists from Dr. John to Kiss, Miss Piggy, to one memorable session with The Village People.

Now, Jon has focused his talents on this personal project of mostly traditional and smooth jazz-based tunes with a refreshing dose of lounge sensibility - and a dash of humor - from a uniquely colored perspective, Galaxy Lounge.

Wow! Great vibe!
Jon has produced a great cd not only for contemporary Jazz enthusiasts but for people who enjoy music with a cinematic flair. His not only has fun in some of the cuts but he manages to create and ambiance of drama, introspection and a just good old fashioned chillin' vibe. Keep up the good work Jon. Looking forward to the next one.

Welcome to the Party
This is the album you've been waiting for! It takes you on an exciting ride, keeps you riding high and never lets you down! There is never a boring spot on THIS album! You will ride on a wave of sensual pleasure through a kaleidoscope of colorful moods and styles, each so satisfying and rich that at first you don't perceive the deceptive complexity it contains. The music carries abundant contrasts, appearing within each tune, yet masterly woven into a smooth flow that is mysteriousy beautiful, or pulsatingly energetic, or achingly lovely. The only thing it leaves you wanting is MORE, MORE,MORE!!!!!!

Enjoying the Galaxy Lounge CD, it's refreshing and I was looking for something different to listen to; especially on weekends when I have more time to relax.

Sandy Shore Review
The debut project from Galaxy Lounge features a luxurious soundscape of rich, melodic, loungey and jazzy instrumentals, some laced with sparkling vocalizing that range from soulful to sultry. WELCOME TO THE PARTY is the perfect balance of Smooth Jazz and Lounge music… think Paul Hardcastle meets Moby. At the helm is, former New York City composer and arranger, Jon Grindstaff, whose nearly thirty-year career has offered him the opportunity to work with some of the best musicians and singers in the world and to compose in a wide variety of styles… recording everything from Japanese folk to full orchestration and everything in between. Now residing in Pennsylvania with his wife Kit, Jon is busting out of a five-year hiatus with this classy, cosmopolitan collection of sophisticated songs that celebrate and combine the spacious vibe of Chill with the tastefulness of Jazz. Galaxy Lounge has everything it needs to make a big impression on these two popular, Global genres. Join the party and add WELCOME TO THE PARTY to your personal playlist!

Darrell Grindstaff

This album is delicious! It is a veritable "feast" for the ears. It is ripe with texture and nuance — full of delightful and unexpected surprises, like the pairing of hauntingly-beautiful, monastic voices singing "alelluia" over Indian tablas on Hypnotocracy, or the richly-textured, almost ragged, blues vocals laid over the smooth-as-silk piano, brass and strings on Climb. Some of the tunes evoke the sensation of floating, gliding effortlessly along, propelled by expansive sounds, searching chord progressions and the irresistible rhythm of the drums and percussion. Two up-tempo tunes, Spunky and the title track, Welcome to the Party are full of infectious optimism and good humor. One of my favorites, Blessed Rain is as delicate and beautiful as a glass orchid or a dragonfly's wing. All of the tracks are honed and polished, surprising but always tasteful. Every track has a solid groove.

Much aloha to GL,

Anita Reber

Groovy baby!
I love it and everyone I play it for loves it!
