Album Notes
Trained in performing during the Folk Revival in Washington Square park in the 1960's, Gary Lapow has stayed true to his Roots, Americana musical background. During the Civil Rights era Gary toured as the guitarist for the SNCC Freedom Singers.
His long recording career began in 1963 with "Folk Music of Washington Square" on Folkways Records and continued through "The Force of Life" with the Red Star Singers on Paradon Records (1973), "Tell it From the Heart, produced by the jazz great Andy Narrell (1982), his own Kaleidoscope Concert on the Disney Channel (1988), 9 more albums of kids music and "Walking Down Life's Highway" (2013). He has performed with Pete, Seeger, Malvina Reynolds and Holly Near. Dave Guard of the Kingston Trio covered Gary's anti- nuclear song "Nucalypso"
