Album Notes
The second CD by Staten Island artist Gary Owen. Released in 2006, "Summer" follows the same theme as it's 1995 predecessor "Autumn" (also available here at CD Baby) with nine originals- including one repeated in a foreign language- and two covers by Monkee Michael Nesmith ("Grand Ennui" & "Nevada Fighter"). The seasonal theme is used to represent Gary Owen's personal moods. "Autumn" has more of a laid back vibe whereas "Summer" is pretty much your standard rock album. You be the judge.

Another outstanding collection!
Just like with Autumn, I can't say enough great things about Gary. To me, this CD has more of an edge to it. You can see how his songwriting has progressed and matured(kind of like the Beatles', eh?). Nesmith covers are great (I think I like Gary's version of "Grand Ennui" a little better!), but my favorite track on this one is "Summer Dream". The lyrics, the playing, that voice...so dreamy! A must for any collection.

It's great, Gary's best yet!
This CD is great. It's got good music and lyrics. You can here the different artists styles of music that influenced Gary in this CD.

This is my favorite Gary Owen CD so far! He continues to amaze me with his incredible talent and beautiful voice. If I HAD to pick a favorite song, it would be Bad Vibes, although I can't stop playing Grand Ennui! If you haven't had the pleasure of listening to Gary Owen yet, try this CD. I'm sure you'll love it too!

This CD is amazing! Gary Owen is a wonderful songwriter/musician/producer. I am impressed with his covers of Mike Nesmith's "Grand Ennui" and "Nevada Fighter". My favorite tracks are "Summer Dream"- including the fascinating Norwegian version, "Bad Vibes"- this one really hits home and the unbelievable "Psychedelic Dream" -this one will surely blow your mind! HIGHLY recommended!

With love from Bergen, Norway
Hallo Gary, with an "a".
I love your cd. It`s great. Especially the norwegian version of "Summerdream". I can hear the influence of the Bergen dialect. Nice try. (Just kidding!)It`s beautiful!
I hope your work with your music will be appreciated, and that you`ll get to work with your own music in the future.
I hope I will hear you live one day sometime soon!
Give your brother a piece of chewing gum from me!!
Loads of hugs from Gry (...without an "a"!)

Brilliant album.
Hey, Gary! Sorry I didn't do this before, but this is a great album. Goodness, I love the guitar solo on Grand Ennui.

Simply amazing...
Gary Owen is one of the most talented musicians I've ever run across and Summer is one of the most polished, well-conceived and consistently entertaining releases I've heard in recent years from any artist: signed or unsigned. With a healthy dose of musical inspiration from The Beatles, The Byrds and, yes, of course, Michael Nesmith, Summer will make you long for days of musical magic gone by... and hopefully more yet to come if folks like Gary keep the spirit alive. MOST highly recommended.
